Kindhearted teen hopes to find a loving home before turning 18

January 28, 2020 by Emily Cain

Gabe is a charismatic 17-year-old with a big smile and a kind heart. We have had the opportunity to get to know this unforgettable teen over the past few years, and one thing is certain: everyone loves Gabe.

His child-specific recruiter, Sara, who has been working with him since he was 15 says, “Gabe is funny, smart, kind and thoughtful. He has grown so much since I met him. He’s a lot more motivated to seek out interests and hobbies and is trying to look ahead to his future.”

Recently, Gabe volunteered with an organization in North Minneapolis that works with teens facing homelessness. He’s also incredibly tech-savvy and loves watching music videos online and posting original videos on his YouTube channel. Gabe enjoys creating mixes of calming music to help viewers meditate and dreams of becoming a YouTube star one day.

This May, Gabe will turn 18. Before this monumental birthday, he hopes to find a permanent, loving home, where he can find consistency and stability.

In addition to his love of music, Gabe also loves watching and playing sports—especially football. In fact, he might be Minnesota’s number one Vikings fan.

Last summer, he had the chance to spend a day with Vikings players and attend a game at U.S. Bank Stadium for the very first time. Gabe was overjoyed by this experience and said, “It was the most fun I ever had. I never knew you could feel so special. I loved talking with the players and being able to feel so important.” Gabe smiled for days after this once-in-a-lifetime experience and loved sharing this story with his friends.

This May, Gabe will turn 18. Before this monumental birthday, he hopes to find a permanent, loving home, where he can find consistency and stability. Gabe would thrive with one or two parents who can provide guidance and mentorship to help him succeed during this pivotal time in life. He’s great with pets—especially dogs—and would love to be part of a family as an only child or with a sibling close in age to him. Gabe would like to maintain living in, or close by, where he currently resides.

Details to Note

Due to contracts with the Minnesota Department of Human Services, the cost of adopting a child from Minnesota foster care is virtually free to families.
