Meet a Caring Teen Who Loves Basketball and Video Games

March 26, 2021 by Emily Cain

Close-up photo of fourteen-year-old boy in nature.Youssef is a considerate, kind, and helpful 14-year-old who loves video games and being active. “The first thing I noticed about Youssef was his sweet and energetic personality!” says Jazzmin, his Child Specific Recruiter. “At our initial visit, he was very kind and eager to get to know me. Youssef is very caring. He always asks how my day is going and how my family is doing.”

Like many kids his age, he absolutely loves playing video games. He is an expert at Fortnite and also loves to play Minecraft and Call of Duty. Some of Youssef’s other favorite activities include exercising, cooking nutritious smoothies, and baking Rice Krispies Treats. He also enjoys walking at the mall, visiting the arcade, and going out to eat.

The last time Jazzmin and Youssef spent time together, they had an extra special visit, because it was the day Youssef got to film his Reel Hope video! Youssef had a great time and got to show off his basketball skills, talk about some of his favorite foods (dark chocolate), and the games and activities he loves most.

My biggest hope is finding a genuine, loving family for Youssef. – Jazzmin, Child Specific Recruiter

Fourteen year old boy outside in winter wearing plaid shirtWhen thinking about the type of family Youssef would thrive in Jazzmin says, “He would do best in a two-parent home where he is the only child or is with much younger children and would thrive with pets. Youssef hopes for a family that is loving, supportive, nurturing, and patient, and would befit from consistency and structure.”

Based on his personal history, it is important that Youssef’s future family understands past trauma and behavioral response. He needs a family who will guide and nurture him through all of life’s ups and downs. It is important that Youssef be supported in maintaining connections with his birth family, especially with his older sister.

“My biggest hope is finding a genuine, loving family for Youseff,” says Jazzmin. His bright smile and kind heart would make him a wonderful addition to the right family. With lots of love, patience, and support, he will flourish!

Details to Note

Due to contracts with the Minnesota Department of Human Services, the cost of adopting a child from Minnesota foster care is virtually free to families.
