“Lily” recently had a big celebration for her 12th birthday–which included getting dressed up in the beautiful jewelry and flowers pictured to the right. Lily is described as a caretaker with a bright, warm and joy filled personality. She loves to wear new dresses and new shoes, play with baby dolls, read books, color, laugh, give hugs and dance.
Lily uses a communication program so she is able to share her thoughts and needs with others and has started to spell and read short phonetic words. Volunteers who work with her hope that eventually Lily will be able to use a combination of her communication program and typing/spelling to communicate all her wonderful thoughts.
Lily works with a gait trainer to walk—though she prefers to run! She’s getting pretty quick and loves that the device allows her to do things such as kick a soccer ball or scoot on a scooter while standing upright.
Because Lily is the oldest and has witnessed other children get adopted, her volunteer notes she has an understanding of what it means to have a forever family and has a strong desire to have this for herself.
“Why hasn’t anyone chosen her? Don’t they know how amazing she is? Can’t they see how much joy she would bring to their family? Can’t they see that she is so much more than her [need]? That she is smart, she loves to laugh, she is gentle, and loves going to church. Her [need] doesn’t define her.” – Lily’s foster mother
We cannot share full, clear photos of Lily publicly, but many photos and more information are available for eligible families who inquire. Specific references to her medical need have been changed to the word “need” in the quote from her foster mother to protect her privacy.
