Meet A Teen Waiting in Foster Care for Creative and Open Parents

May 1, 2016 by Staff Contributor

A picture of Jacob, a teen waiting for adoption from foster care, smiling in front of a brick wall.During National Foster Care Month, get to know a teen waiting for adoption from foster care

Jacob, age 15, is a fun young man that loves to tell jokes! He has a great, somewhat sarcastic, sense of humor and never fails to make you laugh when you’re around him. His personality can be quirky at times but the more you get to know him, the more you find out about his true self. Jacob’s interests range from riding bikes outside, to playing video games, to listening to and singing different songs. He also loves sports and is a Denver Broncos fan! Jacob has a great personality and longs for the possibility of a forever family.

Jacob is in need of a family who will creatively think about their role as parents. Parenting Jacob may not mean bringing him into your home, but rather visiting him at the residential center in which he now lives, calling him regularly, providing emotional support, and becoming the family he can look forward to celebrating holidays with. Jacob would benefit from a family in which he would receive lots of positive attention and also patience and consistency. He also would like to join an active family that would be interested in spending time outdoors with him. Jacob’s parents would act as positive role models and show him that through flexibility, they are ready to commit to meeting his needs long term, even if the way they act out their parenting day-to-day may change over time.

details To note

Jacob is waiting in Minnesota foster care but he is open to being adopted by families anywhere in the U.S.
