Christian is a very happy 4-year-old boy who loves to laugh. Music is sure to bring a smile to his face—especially the crazy frog song. Truly, any nursery rhyme or kids song brings him joy. He’s also got a bit of a mischievous side and his playful games will end in belly laughs. When he was recently working with his therapist, she would ask him to push the nose of the stuffed pig. He just kept looking coyly out of the side of his eye, and then he eventually pushed the pig right off the table! An eruption of giggles followed, as they often do when things fall.
He goes to school Monday through Thursday and loves it. His favorite activity at school is to tap on the drum set—he really is musical! He likes to be around other kids at day care and school. Along with school, he attends various therapies. He has shown some progress because of these sessions. Right now they are working on communication skills. He loves to push buttons to say things to people in the room, and has begun to say a few words on occasion.
Christian really loves the outdoors and to stay busy. He enjoys going out and about with his care givers and loves feeling the wind in his hair and the sun on his face as he rides on the boat or in a golf cart.
Christian needs a family committed to his continued care and growth. Though his medical needs do not require 24-hour care, they do require a family ready to meet his needs and help him thrive. His family should be ready to adapt their home and life to be wheelchair friendly. Additionally, Christian’s adoptive family will need to help him maintain relationships with his grandparents and siblings.
Details to Note
The majority of costs to Minnesota clients adopting youth under Minnesota state guardianship are covered by a contract with the Minnesota Department of Human Services. As with all Minnesota foster youth, Christian qualifies for medical assistance. Additionally, because of his medical needs, he is eligible for a CADI Waiver.
