Meet a Funny 17 Year Old with a Big Heart

August 9, 2018 by Staff Contributor

A 17-year-old boy waiting in foster care for a family smiles at the camera. He's wearing a flat-brimmed baseball cap and a Marlins t-shirt.Meet Tyler, a funny and caring 17 year old waiting for adoption. Tyler is always able to make people laugh, and is known to be very witty! Some of his interests are movies, anime, and working with electronics. He has joined after-school clubs—including an anime club—and is known to work hard after school between his clubs and his job. Tyler has proven to be very responsible. He works at a movie theater and really likes his job there. Besides the movies he gets to see, he has enjoyed making money and he manages it very well.

Tyler isn’t very interested in sports, though he does like hockey. Some of his favorite things to do are going on trips up north, spending time at cabins, and fishing on lakes. He is an open person, and is always up for new experiences.

One of the most noticeable things about Tyler is his big heart. He is great with kids and often buys gifts for his nieces and nephews. He wants to help other kids like him so much that he is thinking about becoming a social worker.

Tyler has an aunt in the metro area that he visits every weekend. This is an important relationship for him to maintain, so his adoptive family should be prepared to support their connection. Tyler needs a family a that can mentor him as he plans for college, help him succeed, and continue to give him extra support as he continues into adulthood.

Details to Note

The majority of costs to Minnesota clients adopting youth under Minnesota state guardianship are covered by a contract with the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
