Brothers Still Wait for a Family

April 21, 2016 by Staff Contributor

A blurred photo of Y and J, , who wait in Latin America for an adoptive family, sitting on a chair together.Help us make sure these boys no longer have to wait for a family

We’ve been advocating for these two brothers for over two years! With every email and post about them, we are hopeful that, this time, we will find a family prepared to meet their needs and provide them a loving home. And we are so thankful to have a community of friends, families and followers who are ready to help spread the word about children who need families. Time and again, you help us identify amazing families for children who wait. We couldn’t be more thankful.

We’re asking for your help again. Please read through the information on these brothers, and think of any families you may know who would provide the appropriate love and care that these boys need to thrive.

Meet Y and J

These 12- and 11-year-old brothers are described as active and respectful boys. In 2014, they spent a week with mentors as part of our Connect for Kids Colombia program. Their mentor noted the very close relationship between the the two boys: “you can tell that they care for and look-out for each other a great deal.” They have each developed their own unique way of engaging with one another, which the mentor thought was amusing to witness. They both follow instructions and rules, make friends, interact well with other peers and caregivers, and follow their daily routine.

Older brother “Y” is known as being reserved and timid. He is currently enrolled in school. A mentor from Connect for Kids noted that he is a lover of animals (especially cats), athletic, and enjoys any sports involving a ball.

Y needs to have parents in his life that will consistently show him love and tear down the protective wall that he is building around his tender heart.

“J” is reported to express his feelings well, and has good school achievement as his teachers describe him as “tender, affectionate, and independent”. One of the camp mentors shared that J is a “very energetic boy with a positive attitude, who is always looking for FUN! He is a joy to be with but requires a great deal of attention and somebody who can channel his energy appropriately.”

J has a twinkle in his eye when he smiles. He is spunky, artistic, likes to draw animals, loves looking for bugs, and enjoys swimming.

The boys have a blood disorder which is managed by medication, but have no known additional medical needs. We cannot post clear photos of these siblings online however photos and additional information are available to eligible families who inquire.

With our combined efforts, we believe we can help change the future of these brothers. Thank you.

The basic requirements indicate applicants should be between the ages of 25-55 and have no serious physical or mental health concerns.
