Chanel is a smart, funny 17 year old who is ready to take on her senior year of high school. As a hardworking student in mainstream classes, Chanel has maintained a place on the B honor roll over the past two years. She even received awards in Art and Language Arts for her abilities, great improvement, participation, and help for those around her.
Chanel loves working on art, especially pieces that work with pencil and intense shading. When she was asked to complete artwork to be shown in the Fostering is Love Art Exhibit next month, she eagerly got to work. We can’t wait to see her talent showcased!
“Chanel is awesome. I love hanging out with her. It doesn’t feel like I’m visiting a client; it feels like a fun conversation with a quirky and friendly teen,” shares her Child-Specific Recruiter, Stephanie.

Like many teens, Chanel spends time outside of the classroom watching Netflix, or falling down the “YouTube hole” watching various makeup tutorials—she is really into fashion and mastering different makeup looks. Her passion for fashion also led her to work in retail. She’s maintained steady work over the past three years and loves her latest job that gives her a chance to embrace her knack for putting together great looks, thrive while interacting with customers, and build trust in her managers because of her reliability.
A love of animals has led Chanel on a quest for a Blue-Tongued Skink—a long, skinny lizard with really short legs that is native to Australia. She has ordered the cage, food and lights she would need to care for it, but this is a rare lizard that is rarely in stock in local stores. This won’t deter her though, she calls the store every week to check whether they have new stock.
In addition to the Blue-Tongued Skink, Chanel is also very interested in medieval and fantasy literature. Could you picture bringing Chanel, glowing with excitement, on an annual family trip to the Renaissance Festival? When taking her Heart Gallery photos she spoke about this and Amy Wurdoch Photography then created a fantasy portrait using Photoshop that Chanel absolutely adores.
Chanel is looking for a family that will provide her guidance and support as she transitions to adulthood—one that enjoys an occasional Caramel Macchiato would be a bonus! She has developed some strong relationships over the years and would like to maintain contact with her siblings as well as her foster family after she is adopted. She is open to many family dynamics, including a family that practices their faith: she enjoyed attending church with her foster families and liked going to youth group on Wednesdays. Could you be the family she waits for?
