Michael, age 16, is a very kindhearted, considerate and open-minded young man. “He’s such a carefree person,” his Child Specific Recruiter Sam shared, “and, like all of our kids, he’s really resilient.”
He likes to be active and especially loves basketball. “We just went the Timberwolves event on Thursday and he had a great time,” said Sam.
“He’s very grateful for the people he has in his life. For instance, at the Timberwolves event he said ‘I can’t believe that you thought of me for this event.’ He was just so happy that he had chance to meet the Timberwolves and be there.”
He also enjoys showing off his dancing skills. Additionally, he would love to spend more time camping, hiking, exploring and traveling—he hopes that when he is older he will be able to afford such trips and excursions. When he’s not active, he enjoys video games and chowing down on some ice cream.
Michael is a very knowledgeable and curious young adult and would like to be informed of what is going on around him. “He’s very inquisitive and likes to ask questions,” Sam shared. He is enjoyable, respectful, easy to talk to and likes animals.
Michael will need a family who would be able to provide individual one-on-one attention and care for him. He does best in structured, consistent, calm environments. “He’s very self-aware. He struggles with getting upset or annoyed with people but then afterward he reflects on his actions and is aware of things he should be working on to grow as a person,” Sam explained.
He stated that he wants someone who will love and accept him. He would be open to joining a family with younger kids and pets but does not want to join a family with older siblings. He would love an active family that enjoys doing things outdoors, such as camping and traveling. This family will also need to be open to him seeing and contacting his siblings.
Details to Note
Michael and the team of professionals working to find him an adoptive family are open to considering families in all states, but would prefer a family that lives in Minnesota.
The majority of costs to Minnesota clients adopting a child under Minnesota state guardianship are covered by a contract with the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

MEET OTHER WAITING CHILDREN
During December we are advocating for twelve children and sibling groups who currently wait for families. We appreciate any time you take to get to know these children and consider whether your family, or a family you know, could be theirs.
