12-year-old Jose describes himself as “awesome, kind, and cool.” His Child-Specific Recruiter, Amy, would agree. She explained to me: “He was so eager to get to know me when I first met him. He asked a lot of playful questions. He’s very inquisitive.” But Amy noted, “He can take a while to warm up to new people.”
This may be because he has a quiet demeanor. “He’s always listening, paying attention to what is going on around him,” said Amy. Behind this quiet facade, is a young, caring boy. Amy explained, “He has strong relationships with people, including his foster parents.”
He spends time with his foster father building things—they most recently built a chair. “He loves to build and fix things. He’s really skilled with small, trinket-type toys and hopes to one day become an inventor,” Amy added.
Jose’s favorite sport is soccer—he would love to join a family that would embrace this passion and help him join a soccer team.
Details to Note
Jose has siblings in Minnesota with whom he would like to continue regular visits. However, Jose would do well both in the cities or in out-state Minnesota, so he is open to any family as long as they are close enough to facilitate visits.
The majority of costs to Minnesota clients adopting a child under Minnesota state guardianship are covered by a contract with the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

MEET OTHER WAITING CHILDREN
During December we are advocating for twelve children and sibling groups who currently wait for families. We appreciate any time you take to get to know these children and consider whether your family, or a family you know, could be theirs.
