Four-year-old “D” has been waiting for a permanent family for close to two years. His foster mother describes him as loving—he comes to her to be held and will watch her sing as she puts him to sleep.
Our agency staff who met D describe him as very active. During the meeting he was running and smiling and showed an interest in noisy toys. He will follow some directions, indicates when he is hurt, throws a ball, quickly hugs his foster mother, copies the sound of songs, and can go up and down stairs well.
Although D doesn’t interact directly with others he will mimic their actions. He receives speech therapy and can now say “yes,” “no,” and sing along to songs. He is very resourceful and will use gestures to communicate; for instance, he will go to the fridge and indicate what he would like to eat. Likewise, when he met our staff, though he didn’t use formal language, he greeted them with a bow.
D gets excited to ride the bus and go to school–he attends a special education school five days a week and also receives weekly therapy.
We cannot share photos or medical information of D on our public site but information and many photos are available for families who inquire.
