“Kang Kang” will celebrate her tenth birthday next month! She recently spent time with Elizabeth, an orphanage volunteer in our Connect for Kids program. “She has a great positive attitude and would make a wonderful addition to someone’s family,” Elizabeth shared.
Kang Kang is a very sweet girl who takes care of others. Elizabeth explained, “She was very helpful, always ready to pick up and put things away. She was very kind to the younger children in our group—sharing stickers and bubbles with them—and helped us to keep an eye on them. She was respectful and gentle with other people’s things and always returned them when asked.”
At the beginning of the program, Kang Kang was a little shy but by the end she was eager to participate in the activities and never left Elizabeth’s side. “She is quiet, not boisterous or loud, but she is a very good communicator,” Elizabeth explained.
She is enrolled in the fourth grade at a regular school and likes PE class because she enjoys running. During Connect for Kids, Elizabeth witnessed that “she loved to run and jump. Her special need did not stop her at all. She has an uneven gait, but never once did she stop running or jumping. One hand is weaker than the other, but again this didn’t stop her from using scissors or drawing or using a cell phone.”
