Special Education and the IEP: What Parents Need to Know To Be an Advocate for Their Child

Michelle Maloney, Ed. S., N.C.S.P., is an adoptive parent and School Psychologist with South Washington County Schools, where she applies her expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. In this webinar, Michelle will describe the special education process, including how students are identified, assessed, and determined eligible for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). She’ll talk about parents’ roles as vital members of the IEP team, and steps parents can take if they believe their child is not receiving the services they are entitled to. Michelle will answer questions that parents may have regarding their child’s education.
