Foster Care Adoption Education Class

For families interested in adopting children from Minnesota foster care

These classes will familiarize you with the children waiting to be adopted, the needs they commonly have, and the adoption process. You will also have the opportunity to listen to panels of adoptive parents and waiting or adopted teens. Topics covered include:

• loss and grief
• mental health
• attachment and claiming
• abuse and neglect
• child development
• cross-cultural parenting
• openness

To fulfill the education requirement, it is essential to attend the entirety of this two day series:

Please note: You must attend a Foster Care Adoption Orientation Session and complete additional pre-adoption education to register. Registration must be received prior to the class dates. The cost of this class is covered by our contracts with the State of Minnesota.
