Fostering is Love Walk

In a simultaneous celebration of those who have fostered and adopted and a call for more families to consider opening their homes to waiting kids, join us at the Mall of America for the Second Annual Fostering is Love Event hosted by Adoption is Love Fund. The day will be packed with activities for families, kids and community members. You can stop by for part of the day, or stay for all of the activities.
Parking & Registration
The best place to park is East Parking Ramp Level P1 or P2. Registration opens at 8:15 a.m. at the East Entrance Level 1, by Sea Life.
- 100 Build-A-Bears will be given the first 100 registered children under 10 years old.
- Free Kid’s Hero Capes will be given to the first 200 registered children at check-in.
- Nickelodeon Mystery Tickets will be given to the first 300 registered at check-in.
At 9 a.m. Joe Schmit, KSTP Sportscaster, will kick off the walk in the Rotunda. The walk includes: balloon artist, jump roping, a coloring station, and Nickelodeon characters. Walkers are encouraged to dress up in matching t-shirts or costumes and carry a sign to display your family, business, school or nonprofit.
At 9:55 a.m. join a celebration ceremony in the rotunda. There will be a prize giveaway for kids and 20 backpacks with school supplies. Pamper the parent prizes will also be given out. Then listen to inspirational speakers and stories from foster kids and foster families.
Foster and Adoption Information Fair
During and after the walk, stop by the Foster and Adoption Information Fair—we’ll be there along with 21 other exhibitors! It takes place in the Sears rotunda from 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. We can answer all of your questions about becoming a foster or adoptive parent.
During and after the walk you can also stop by the Macy’s Court for an art show showcasing art from Minnesota’s foster kids waiting to be adopted. There will be a silent auction to purchase their art.
Cards of Love
Sponsored by Crayola, the Cards of Love station will be hosted from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Rotunda and Macy’s Court. At the station you can create an inspirational card for a foster child and a thank you note for a foster parent.
Other Fun Activities
Take fun family photos that are easy to upload to social media at the photo booth from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Rotunda.
