Are You Still In This With Me? Holding Onto Your Couples Relationship When the Parenting Road is Tough
Friday, November 9, 2018
This workshop is organized through MN Adopt.
Parenting children is challenging at any stage when adults in a couple relationship differ in child expectations and responses. Add being adoptive parents of children with early trauma or attachment losses, and the likelihood of relational strain triples. This interactive workshop is for parent couples seeking to actively safeguard their intimacy and partnership in the face of such stress.
Come prepared to:
- Recognize typical cycles of Divide and Conquer, Push Pull, or Us against Them that children with prior relational wounds can evoke and how these get replicated between couples.
- Apply the tools of Emotion Focused Couples Therapy to tend to your connection in the face of these dynamics and differing ideas about how to best cope.
- Claim relationship enhancement practices to nourish between you, because having another who can “have your back” through the good and hard days can be as vital as food itself.
