Hello, we are Chris & Matt! Thank you for taking the time to learn about our family. We hope this gives you a glimpse into our lives, our values, our loved ones, and how our loving home would be filled with even more love with a child.

We have been together for over ten years and have been married for four. Adopting a child has always been a shared hope. We live in a city that we love (Minneapolis), have a strong network of support from loving friends and family, really enjoy our careers, and are eager to grow our family. We hope you will allow us the opportunity to get to know you as we move through this process together. We can only begin to imagine the numerous decisions before you and have tremendous respect for the consideration you’re giving to planning an open adoption. We understand the importance of an open adoption and are committed to establishing and growing a relationship with you.

Our Values

  • Compassion: For our neighbor and for ourselves. To be human is to feel and know the joys and sorrows of life.
  • Fun: Laughter can be a healing balm. We believe that each day is a gift to be celebrated and enjoyed. We laugh loudly and freely in our home, making the most of each day gifted to us!
  • Sincerity: Always be yourself… everyone else is already taken!
  • Curiosity: We believe that asking questions and following curiosity leads to growth and deeper understanding. We will encourage our child to ask questions about life, faith, and identity.
  • Faith: Our faith leads us to love deeply, grounds us, and provides us with a supportive community.

Our Support Network

  • Loving Family: We have a big familial network of parents, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents who support us deeply – locally and across the country!
  • Supportive Friends: Our friends keep us grounded and are a huge source of love and kindness every day.
  • Faith Community: We are members of Westminster Presbyterian Church, a vibrant worshiping community that is inclusive and loving. There is a diverse network of people from all walks of life who have covenanted to walk with us in our journey of bringing a little one into our home.
  • Strong Female Role Models: Not only do we have strong mothers who support us but we have friends, aunts, and cousins who have supported us and have promised to show our child what it means to be a strong woman!

All about Chris

Chris is a Senior Software Engineer. He really enjoys traveling (we honeymooned in Ireland), playing flag football, hiking with Matt & Cooper (our adorable dog), cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, trying new restaurants, Scooby-Doo, spending time at the lake in the summer, and spending time with friends and family.

What Matt loves about Chris

Chris has always treated everybody around him with respect, dignity, and love. One of the many things I love about Chris is that he is deeply loyal: to his family, his friends, his football league, the church, and our relationship. He rarely speaks ill of others and is quick to point out when something is unfair or unjust. He works hard and is passionate about what he does. Children always gravitate toward Chris’ nurturing and calming demeanor, knowing they will be seen and heard.

All about Matt

Matt is the Director of Youth Ministries at a large downtown church. He really enjoys yoga, being active outside, traveling, Harry Potter, live theater, reading, baking, and spending time with friends and family. He has a tendency to pick up new hobbies, too. The current new hobby: cross-stitch!

What Chris loves about Matt

Matt has always had a huge heart and cares deeply for others. He is always willing to help someone out or stay late with his youth if they are waiting for their parents to pick them up. Matt is also one of the best cooks I know. He can make anything from enchiladas to chickpea noodle soup. He is great at understanding what a child needs and knowing the perfect time to be goofy to keep the crocodile tears at bay. Our nieces and nephews adore him and always ask their parents, “When will Uncle Matt be back?”

Our home

Our family lives in South Minneapolis near Lake Harriet. We knew our cozy, yellow home would make the perfect place for our family to grow. We love to have friends and family over for holidays, game nights, sporting events, and doggie play dates. Since we live so close to Lake Harriett and multiple Minneapolis parks, we enjoy going for walks, going to the bandstand on Lake Harriett for concerts and movies, or grabbing a nice cold ice cream cone on a warm day.

Our Promise

  • To maintain an open adoption and to grow our relationship with you, as well as the relationship with your child.
  • To love your child unconditionally, encourage them to follow their dreams and interests and to fully be themselves. Your child will never go a day without waking up to a hug and kiss.
  • To share your story with them, and let them know how much you love them. They will know who you are and how your plan for their future is an act of deep love. Your child will grow up knowing how brave your choice was; we will always speak about you with the respect and admiration you deserve.
  • To teach strong character through experiences and opportunities; instilling in them compassion, empathy, and forgiveness towards themselves and others. We will be there to guide them when they need direction, to support them as they learn from making their own choices, and build confidence in their decision making. Above all, we will love them every step of the way.

We love trying new restaurants. This photo was taken in St. Paul before a concert.

We can’t wait to share our love for travel! This was taken on a recent trip to London.

We honey-mooned in Ireland and we can’t wait to share our love for this place.

Exploring Minneapolis on our bikes is one of our favorite activities.

We have a big, loving family which is ready to welcome a little one into their hearts!
