Kevin and Kelli

Matched

Children in Home: None

Child Ethnicity: African American, Asian, Caucasian, East Indian, Hispanic/Latino, Native American

Hi there! We are Kevin and Kelli. How are you? You may be feeling overwhelmed right now. Please know that we are feeling a bit nervous and awkward too. We know you are on a difficult and emotional journey as you make a plan for yourself and your baby. We want you to know how much we admire you; we think you are very brave. We also want you to know that we will always respect you. We would love to form a relationship with you, in whatever way feels right, now, and in the future. When you’re ready, we would love to talk with you about your hopes and dreams for your baby. Adoption is near and dear to our hearts.

It might sound corny or cliché, but family is very important to us. We love our friends and extended family and are ready to expand our family through adoption. Adoption has interested Kelli since her teenage years. She has several adopted cousins. Kevin brings his own experience of having an adopted brother. We value strong family ties and know that family does not have to be blood.

Meet Kevin:
Kevin is a problem solver and caretaker. When the automatic locks in Kelli’s car stopped working a short time after our first date, Kevin stepped up. He researched and determined the problem, ordered the parts, and fixed the locks. That’s Kevin. He wants to understand how things work. He enjoys researching and tinkering with anything related to technology. One of the first things someone will tell you about Kevin is that he is a hard worker. He works as a Global Sales Administrator for a trucking company and a contracted driver for the post office. Kevin’s desire to work hard is balanced by his silliness and goofiness. He is often found dancing, singing, and joking around the house. He also enjoys NASCAR, wrestling, and “tinkering” with computers.

Meet Kelli:
Relationships are important to Kelli. She has a close group of friends of 20 plus years. Kelli’s friends describe her as a caring, patient, open-minded, approachable, and reliable person who always makes time for them and makes them a priority. Growing up, Kelli wanted to be a lawyer. She participated in mock trials throughout high school. At college at the University of St. Thomas, Kelli discovered social work and pursued a career in it instead. She has a flexible work schedule and a professional background in mental health. She enjoys hearing people’s stories and learning about different cultures. Traveling, riding ATVs, and learning about winemaking are passions for Kelli.

Kevin and Kelli Join Together:
We met in the spring of 2013 on a dating site. After a few weeks of chatting, we had our first date at a Saints game. The weather did not cooperate that day. It was unusually cold, damp, and dreary. Kelli also tripped and face-planted on the concrete steps. The date could have been over. Kevin stepped up though. He bought coffee and fresh donuts. He tended to Kelli’s bruised body and ego and suggested a location change. We have been together since. We married at the Landscape Arboretum in 2015.

Our Daily Lives:
We are a typical middle-class family. We are up by 6:30 am during the week for work. We walk the dog daily and eat dinner together every night. We spend time with friends or family a couple of times a week. We enjoy board games and video game nights. We tend to do a movie night weekly and a fun outing/activity on the weekend. We take lots of weekend trips to the cabin and surrounding areas, like Duluth, Grand Marais, and Bayfield, doing outdoor activities like ATV riding, fishing, cookouts, campfires, walking in the woods, swimming, etc. We also tend to take a vacation that requires flying once a year. We love visiting friends in Toronto and Kevin’s brother and sister-in-law in Colorado Springs. We like to attend events in the community like festivals and try foods from all over the globe.

Our Extended Family—Kelli’s Side:
Kelli grew up with her parents and a younger sister. She was taught to work hard and play hard. Her parents ran a small second-generation family business. Summers were spent with cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents at the cabin in Waskish, MN. Today her family includes a BIL and a 5-year-old nephew. Kelli has a special bond with her 87-year-old grandma. Kelli’s family gathers often in Waskish and celebrates most holidays there.

Our Extended Family—Kevin’s Side:
Kevin grew up with his parents and a younger brother. His dad worked as an accountant, and his mom was a homemaker. Time was spent daily with his extended family because his grandparents lived in the same duplex and his aunt, uncle, and cousins lived in the same neighborhood. Kevin has fond memories of family BBQs, large family holidays, being involved in his family’s church, and playing video games with his grandma.

Our Pets:
Our pets include our cat, Bella, and our Pomeranian, Nolan. Nolan may only weigh 8 pounds, but he loves adventure. He enjoys playing in the snow, atv rides, and boat rides. Last fall he traveled to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with us and took the ferry to Mackinac Island. Both Bella and Nolan look forward to having another sibling.

Our Home:
We look forward to raising our family in Kelli’s childhood home in Apple Valley. We are in the process of buying the house from her parents. The house is extra special because Kelli’s dad built it with his own hands. It is a three-bedroom and three-bathroom home with a large fenced yard with plenty of room for a swing set, trampoline, or game of baseball.

Promises to our Child:
We cannot wait to meet you. We already love you. We promise to be the best mommy and daddy we possibly can be. We will always believe in you, always support you, and always be there for you. We promise to provide lots of attention, affection, and adventure. We will encourage your dreams, celebrate your victories both big and small, and help pick you up when you fall. We will be at every event and milestone cheering for you. We love watching the young people in our lives grow, like our nephew pictured to the left and our godson, and cannot wait to do the same with you.

We thank you for taking the time to get to know us a bit. We may not know you yet, but you and your baby are in our thoughts and prayers.
