We are looking forward to becoming parents through adoption! We are ready to open our hearts to a child and hope to provide a home that is full of love, laughter, and happy memories. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you explore adoption for your child.

About Us

We live on a farm southern Minnesota. Our house is surrounded by limitless adventure for a child growing up, including hay bales to play on and build forts, a small herd of cats, and plenty of area to run around and grow. We have a large backyard, including a deck and a fire pit. Most nights we can look up and see a sky full of stars.

We bought a house on an acreage, which came with our first family pet, Joey, a nine-year-old Sheltie that had lived on the farm since he was a pup. We fell in love with his personality and decided to get a female, named Abby. Together they had a litter of pups and we kept one and named him Sheldon.

The first time we met was when Sheri interviewed Matt for a job in 2006. (He got the job!) We became friends and even though Sheri really didn’t want to date a coworker, she couldn’t resist Matt’s charms forever. We started dating in 2010 and got married in 2012.

Meet Matt

I grew up on a farm about an hour from where we live now. I have two sisters. My older sister had a baby boy in October 2019 and my younger sister and her husband are expecting their first child. They have both asked us to be godparents. I can’t wait to have them over to teach them new things and watch them grow and develop. It will be awesome to have three (or more) cousins so close together in age.

I am a product validation specialist for a swine genetics company. I have worked there since May 2016, but have been in a similar career since I graduated from South Dakota State University. I have a BS in animal science. I enjoy my career in research because I like learning new things and, for the most part, no two days are the same. I also have two side jobs, mowing yards for our neighbors and taking care of about 50 cows.

I have collected toy tractors my whole life. Other hobbies include lawn mowing, grilling meat for crowds, working with animals, making new recipes, and home repair. I enjoy meeting new people and helping others out if I can. I am an analytical person who is very much a hands-on learner and enjoy teaching others how to do things. I enjoy traveling both through work and with Sheri when we visit family and friends.

Meet Sheri

I grew up on a farm about an hour west of Omaha, Nebraska. I moved to Minnesota in 2006. I’m the baby of four children. My brother is 11 years older than I am and my sisters are 15 and 16 years older. I have two nephews and a niece that live with their parents in North Carolina. My other sister is in Nebraska. My brother and his wife are in New York.

I am a feed specialist for a family-owned pig farm. I have worked there since December 2013. I went to college at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and have a BS in animal science with minors in math and psychology and a master’s degree in business administration. I worked in beef and swine research for 11 years before my current job. My favorite thing about my job is being part of a work family that is as passionate about agriculture as I am.

My hobbies include quilting, baking, football (Go Big Red!), gardening (flowers, not vegetables), and naps. I enjoy traveling, especially on trips to visit family, who reside all over the U.S. I’m an animal lover and consider myself logical, patient, and organized. I am excited to see what the future holds and can’t wait to meet our future child!

Family Traditions

  • We enjoy going on vacations together. We have went on two cruises since we’ve been married and also like going on small weekend trips to visit friends and family.
  • We enjoy making a ton of Christmas candy (peanut clusters, bon bons, cashew crunch, caramels) every year. Our favorite part is giving it to family and friends.
  • We get together with family whenever possible. Sheri’s family plays canasta when they get together. Matt’s family enjoys playing “dice” (aka Zilch or Farkle) and we do a white elephant Christmas gift exchange with Matt’s family at his grandparents.
  • We often volunteer our time grilling pork chops with other pork producers at the county fair and various other events throughout the year.
  • Every year we invite all of our family, friends, and neighbors over for a summer picnic. (Plus, it’s a good excuse for Matt to make a large quantity of food).
  • We have a great group of friends that get together every week for trivia at a local bar and grill. We win once in a while, but mostly it about having fun.
  • Abby and Sheldon are both therapy dogs and we take them for visits at colleges and assisted living facilities.

We Promise

Our promise to you is that you will always hold a special place in our hearts and our family. We prefer to have an open adoption, but understand that the choice is yours to make. We want our child to know about you and know that your love for them brought us all together as family. Thank you again for considering us to be the parents of this child.

~ Matt & Sheri

We regularly visit our families. Here we are celebrating Matt’s sister’s baby shower with his family.

We enjoy a good game of cards with friends and family any chance that we get. Here we are playing canasta with Sheri’s parents.

Volunteering with the pork producers at the Minnesota State Fair. We spent the day answering questions from fairgoers about pig farming.

One of the cruises we have went on. Most of our trips are driving distance, but we like flying to warmer locations in the winter.

Every year we take a picture of ourselves holding our anniversary picture from last year. That’s seven years if you can count pictures that small.
