COVID Relief in India: How You Can Help

May 13, 2021 by Emily Cain

Help Children in India Through St. Jude’s Charitable Trust

Children’s Home has long supported the efforts of St. Jude’s Charitable Trust (SJCT) in Kerala, India, to provide quality care, medical attention, and therapeutic services to children in institutional settings. We are reaching out now to share what SJCT is doing in response to India’s devastating COVID surge and ask you to consider supporting their efforts.

SJCT is providing medical and PPE supplies for orphanages struggling with the effects of COVID in their communities. Orphanages, particularly government-run facilities, are in trouble due to low funding and limited supplies that may run out in a matter of days. SJCT is fundraising to source the needed supplies by routing them directly to orphanages they are in direct contact with.

SJCT explains: Oxygen is also needed as there are no beds even for children to be admitted in hospitals. Staff who were infected and recovered are weak and exhausted, and a lot of orphanages are in need of temporary child care workers. It is a sad situation. SJCT has identified 12 very in-need orphanages in the first stage and is arranging for masks, gloves, and PPE kits. With the lockdown, it takes time to get these supplies to the orphanages.
