This is Me: Remember our past, celebrate our present
We are collecting stories and photos of adoptees from around the world for the second edition of our book, This is Me: Remember our past, celebrate our present. The original project was created with a focus on Korean adoptees, to celebrate the history of Korean adoption at both Children’s Home and LSS. This year we would like to highlight all adoptees, both domestic and international.
The purpose of This is Me is to acknowledge and appreciate adoptees’ beginnings, their present lives, and their future opportunities. The goal, as evident in the title, is to always remember the important connections and histories that adoptees have, while celebrating their current lives.
The common thread within This is Me is the form of the images. Each adoptee in the book is pictured while holding the first photo they have of themselves. For many, this is the referral photo from their adoption documents. For others, it may be a photo taken at a different time. If you would like to take part in this project, please submit your photo and information below. If you feel comfortable, you can also share a short story about yourself that may be included in the book.
We are thankful to the adoptees and families who make This is Me a possibility. Upon completion, the book will be offered for purchase at the publishing cost.
If you are a Korean adoptee and submitted a photo/story in 2015’s “This is Me” publication, and you’d like to be included in this year’s project as well, please complete the form below to give us permission for republication. If you would like us to include the same information as found in the first edition, you can note “use previous story” in the story/comment field. If you would like to update your story, please feel free to submit something new.
