Adoption Day Camp

A Program for Adopted Youth to Connect & Celebrate Their Identity

Open to Adoptees in 1st through 8th Grade

Our Adoption Day Camp is a four-part in-person series designed for adopted youth who have a finalized adoption. Participants will have the opportunity to get to know other adoptees through exciting hands-on activities and age-appropriate discussions about family, identity, and more.

2024 Adoption Day Camp Overview:

  • Groups meet one Saturday per month, January through April, from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
    • Dates: January 6, February 3, March 2, and April 6, 2024.
  • All events will take place in the Twin Cities Metro.
  • Each event will feature a fun morning activity, catered lunch, and afternoon curriculum time.
  • Cost to attend: $20 per child, per event (non-refundable).
  • Bus transportation will be provided from the Children’s Home Main Office to field trip locations. Please note bus departure times below.

For Parents

As part of our Adoption Day Camp experience, parents will also have the opportunity to connect! Our Family Support Coach, Kelly Tronstad, will host a parent social hour at the Children’s Home Main Office in St. Paul, MN from 2:00-3:00 p.m. each day of camp.


Camp Dates & Activities

Learn more about each event below. You may register to attend one, two, three, or all four events! After registering, you will receive more specific information about meals, activities, directions, etc. one week prior to the event.

Day 1: Puppets & Play

Saturday, January 6, 2024, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Drop off and pick up
: Children’s Home Main Office – 1605 Eustis Street, St. Paul, MN

At our first camp event, we will be joined by performers from In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater, a world-renowned theater recognized for large-scale puppets and performances that ignite the imagination and spark creativity. Following the performance, kids will have the opportunity to express their creativity through hands-on activities, like creating their own puppet or mask. Registration Deadline: Friday, December 29, 2023.

  • Parent Social Hour: Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Day 2: Explore, Discover, Create

Saturday, February 3, 2024, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Drop off and pick up: Children’s Home Main Office – 1605 Eustis Street, St. Paul, MN
Field trip to: Snapology Discovery Center, Minneapolis, MN
Transportation to field trip: bus will depart from the Children’s Home Main Office at 9:45 a.m.

Children are meant to learn through play. When children are actively engaged in hands-on, interactive learning activities, their creativity flourishes and they show a greater interest in school. At our second camp event, kids will spend time at Snapology Discovery Center and have the chance to tinker, build, and create through hands-on activities, like using Lego bricks to share ideas for building a better world. Registration Deadline: Friday, February 23, 2024.

  • Parent Social Hour: Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Day 3: Let’s Get Cooking!

Saturday, March 2, 2024, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Drop off and pick up: Children’s Home Main Office – 1605 Eustis Street, St. Paul, MN
Field trip to: The Way Cool Cooking School
, Eden Prairie, MN
Transportation to field trip
: bus will depart from the Children’s Home Main Office at 9:30 a.m.

The Way Cool Cooking School specializes in teaching and entertaining through food. Their goal is to create a learning environment that is fun-filled, friendly, and inviting with a focus on healthy cooking skills and habits. Kids will participate in a guided cooking lesson and get to enjoy the meal they made for lunch. Registration Deadline: Friday, February 23, 2024.

  • Parent Social Hour: Saturday, March 2, 2024, 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Day 4: Adventures in Wonderland

Saturday, April 6, 2024, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Drop off and pick up: Children’s Home Main Office – 1605 Eustis Street, St. Paul, MN
Field trip to: Can Can Wonderland, St. Paul, MN
Transportation to field trip: bus will depart from the Children’s Home Main Office at 9:45 a.m.

Can Can Wonderland is a whimsical destination of amusements and entertainment for all ages. At our final day camp event, kids will have the chance to kick back and play mini golf and arcade games. Registration Deadline: Friday, April 29, 2024.

  • Parent Social Hour: Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Cost & Payment Information

The cost of attending is $20 per child, per event. You will be emailed an invoice for payment after registering. If cost is a barrier, please email [email protected] to request funding assistance. You may register to reserve your spot before funding assistance is finalized.
