For a second year, Adoption is Love Fund is organizing Find Foster Families Day on October 8, 2019. This comes three days after the community awareness and celebration event, the Fostering is Love Walk. Both events are focused on bringing attention to the need for foster families. On an average day in 2018, there were 10,050 children in Minnesota’s foster care system. And the need for families extends to adoptive families as well: as of August 2018 there were 820 children in Minnesota in need of adoptive families immediately. (Stats from Minnesota Department of Human Services)
You may be considering foster care or adoption for the first time—that’s great. To help you understand the basics, we host our orientation meetings twice a month—once online and once in person. In honor of Find Foster Families Day, we are offering our webinar orientation on Tuesday, October 8.
We welcome you to attend this free meeting to learn about fostering and adopting children from within the Minnesota foster care system. It provides an overview of the process and addresses details such as children served, timelines, fees (spoiler: there are practically none), licensing requirements, etc.
We hope you will join us! You can sign up to attend below. If you’re busy on October 8, feel free to pick a different date that works with your schedule.
