Rare Disease Day Advocacy | Meet a resilient girl who loves McChicken sandwiches

February 27, 2018 by Staff Contributor

Help us advocate for this waiting child in preparation for Rare Disease Day on February 28

J is a 14, almost 15, year old girl who is waiting in foster care for her forever family. J was born with a congenital disease that often takes the lives of infants before their first birthday, but J has beaten the odds! Now, as a teenage girl, J only requires routine medical appointments.

J is a fun girl, with lots of energy. She is also a very polite girl and can be very caring and thoughtful. She is definitely a creature of habit and likes to know what is coming next. Some of her favorite things include coloring, word searches and McChicken sandwiches. She also enjoys watching TV, reading books, arts and crafts and is generally more of a homebody. J’s favorite type of music is rap and hip-hop, especially the music group Rae Sremmurd.

J would thrive in a nurturing, stable and loving home. She would prefer a two-parent family and to be the youngest child. She would like to have a dog in the home and her own room. Her adoptive family will need to maintain contact with J’s birth siblings as well as current foster parent and foster siblings.

DETAILS TO NOTE

The majority of costs to Minnesota clients adopting youth under Minnesota state guardianship are covered by a contract with the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
