Araya is a sweet, lovable, and playful 14-year-old. She thrives when receiving one-on-one attention and loves to be outside when the weather is nice. Araya especially enjoys riding her bike, swimming, going for walks, and playing on the swings at the playground. Her favorite foods are pasta, cinnamon rolls, and beef jerky.
Feeling cared for is very important to Araya. She values consistent caregivers, receiving attention and affection, and being clean. When she feels cared for and receives warmth and kindness from others, she shows affection in return.
Sensory stimulation is also important to Araya. She finds comfort and joy in her weighted blanket, swinging at the park, swimming, and playing with things with interesting textures. When spending time with Lensa, her Child Specific Recruiter, she loves to have her nails and hair done.
Araya is smart, strong-willed, and resilient. You cannot underestimate her skills and ability to learn new things!
Because Araya is non-verbal, it is important that her potential parents are patient and open to learning different types of communication styles. “Due to her needs,” says Lensa, “Araya will need one-on-one supervision. She will also need parents who are willing to learn how to help support her needs and provide patience, gentle care, and understanding.”
Araya currently uses a communication device and knows some sign language. She is smart, strong-willed, and resilient. You cannot underestimate her skills and ability to learn new things! She is very observant and in tune with her surroundings. A supportive, stable, and empathetic family will help Araya continue to challenge herself, develop new skills, and live a full and dynamic life.
