Amijah is a find, funny, and bubbly 17-year-old. “She always has a smile on her face and likes to make people laugh,” says Hayley, her Child Specific Recruiter.
At school she loves art class and enjoys being creative. Outside of school she enjoys spending time with friends, making crafts, playing basketball, playing board games and eating her favorite foods—spicy noodles, spicy chips, and anything with hot sauce!
An ideal family for Amijah would be able to provide structure, consistency, and understanding. She is still learning and growing and needs a family she can trust and count on and who can help her transition into young adulthood. A family who can provide guidance and help her gain independent living skills will be essential to her future success.
Amijah is such a joy to be around and would make a great addition to a family. She has a lot of love to give and will succeed with the support of a family. —Hayley Persons, Child Specific Recruiter
Amijah is open to any family configuration and is open to living with pets and other children in the household. She would prefer to live in a more urban setting. Although she is currently unsure about adoption, she would be open to if the right family came along. In addition to providing support, structure, and guidance, it will be important for a future family to support and help navigate Amijah’s birth family relationships.
“Amijah looks forward to having a stable place to call home,” says Hayley. She has experienced trauma from a young age and needs a family to be aware of the effects of trauma on mental, emotional, and physical health.
“Amijah is such a joy to be around and would make a great addition to a family,” says Hayley. “She has a lot of love to give and will succeed with the support of a family. She deserves someone who will always be there for her!”
Details to Note
Due to contracts with the Minnesota Department of Human Services, the cost of adopting a child from Minnesota foster care is virtually free to families.
