Meet Colby, a 12-year-old with an energetic and adventurous spirit. He hopes to one day find a family who will take him on outdoor adventures and love him unconditionally. “Colby is a very sweet boy who loves to be loved,” says is Child Specific Recruiter, Sara.
He is at his happiest when he is playing with Legos, Pokemon, or watching adventure movies. He also loves to cook, play sports, visit lakes and parks, make art, play video games, and learn about science – especially rocks, insects, and other animals.
Colby expresses himself through a wide range of emotions and behaviors, including aggressive ones. It would be ideal if his future family could find services to help with these behaviors and to be able to help him navigate these issues at home. He needs a family that can provide a lot of love and patience, support, supervision, and one-on-one attention.
Life events that involve trauma and loss have naturally had a significant impact on Colby’s emotional and mental health. “Therapy will be crucial for his wellbeing,” says Sara. “His future family will need to be open to communication to help him navigate his feelings about trauma.” Colby would do best with a two-parent or single female parent household, with children older than him or as an only child. Living in a safe, stable environment is very important to him.
With the right support, access to mental health services, and love from family, Colby will thrive. “He is a sweet, silly, thoughtful boy,” says Sara. “He loves to cuddle and be loved. He missed out on loving connections as a young child and really yearns to have that in his life.”
