Part 1

Length: 1 hr. 07 min.

This segment explores the definitions of maltreatment, adverse childhood events (ACEs), children and the effects of chronic stress on brain development and resiliency.

Part 2

Length: 52 min.

This segment addresses the common behaviors experienced by children adopted internationally, including a discussion of controls and triggers, grief reactions, emotional responses to placement, and how these stressors and others may be noticed in your child’s behaviors at home or at school.

Part 3

Length: 1 hr. 15 min.

This segment presents practical tools parents can utilize to foster a solid foundation when transitioning to your care a child who joined your family through international adoption, as well as methods for reframing behaviors, correcting strategies, and building in time for self-care.

To complete your training:

To obtain training credit hours for this series, each applicant must individually complete and submit the below attestation form to [email protected]. An adoption worker will review your response, countersign the form, and retain it in your case records as proof of completion.
