Hello, we are Asha, Charlie and Jules!

Our Story:

Thank you for choosing to read our story and learn more about our family as a prospective home.

Asha and Charlie met in 2007 in Costa Rica and quickly became life-long travel companions, working and learning together ever since. We had a summer wedding in England where Asha is originally from, with all our family and friends from across the world. Together, we have lived and worked in South America, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.

We both work in international development and foreign aid, and only recently moved back to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where Charlie grew up. We were blessed beyond belief when we adopted our son Jules, in November 2019. After a year in the US, Jules moved with us to Amman, Jordan where he spent almost three years, seeing some of the beauty of the region, before we came home to Minneapolis.

Becoming parents has been our greatest adventure yet! Having been so blown away by the love and fulfillment we derive from raising Jules, we would dearly love to extend our family and welcome another child into our home.

Meet Charlie!

I am the oldest of three brothers, and our parents are both stage actors, who live very close to us today. I’m a musician, I love music and travel, and have loved seeing Jules embrace that too. I work in international agriculture development and food security, which has taken me all over the world. My experiences have shown me how much joy and wonder the world has to offer and also the challenges people work to overcome every day. After moving back to Minneapolis with Asha and Jules, it has been amazing to reconnect with family and friends.

Becoming a father to Jules has been the most fulfilling and joyous thing I have ever done. He has truly “made” us a family and I can’t wait to see what a great older sibling he will be.

Meet Asha!

My brother and I were born in Brighton, southern England. My father (who passed away a few years ago) was English, and my mother is from St Vincent & the Grenadines, a small but beautiful island chain in the Caribbean. Coming from a mixed-race family, diversity and equal opportunities have always been my biggest inspiration, and I have pursued my insatiable curiosity about the world (and love of beaches!) through a career in international development. Since marrying Charlie 14 years ago, I am delighted to have made the US my home.

Motherhood is the best thing that has ever happened to me and we are so excited to grow our awesome family further, and see Jules become an older brother, guiding a new sibling through adventures of their own.

 Meet Jules!

Far and away the best of us, this little bundle of energy and sweetness came home with us on Thanksgiving 2019, aged ten days, and has rocked our world ever since. Jules, now five years old, is tender-hearted, kind, considerate, deeply empathic, energetic, intelligent, creative, and above all things, FUN! He is patient and helpful with younger children, and has the most incredible imagination, transporting himself and all willing participants to far-flung lands populated with dragons, talking animals, and magic. He is a peacemaker, changing every story to a happy ending, making friends with everyone and anyone. He has asked for a sibling for as long as he has been able to talk, and will make the most incredible older brother.

Jules LOVES to swim, ride a bike, explore the wilderness, experience new places and go on adventures, and can ride a horse and even a camel! We are a family of animal lovers and wilderness explorers, and love camping, traveling and entertaining.

As Jules joined our family on Thanksgiving, that holiday is especially significant for us and we host a huge family gathering to celebrate every year. We have a cabin in northern Minnesota that is a regular vacation spot in the summertime, but are just as happy in a B&B somewhere tropical!

Our Home, and Our Lives!

We live in a single-family home, love to cook and have a big kitchen, as well as four bedrooms, one already earmarked for a new addition to the family ;). Jules is the only grandchild on both sides of the family, so is doted upon. Charlie has lots of cousins in Minnesota that have young children, so we have a wide extended family network close by. We are still very close to our families, and our parents delight in spending time with Jules, although they are keen for more grandchildren!

We honor the wishes of Jules’s birth mother to maintain a semi-open adoption, but are equally open to staying in touch and building relationships throughout the life of a child. Any child that joins our family would have love, acceptance, a warm home, a great education, a loving extended family and a life full of adventure.
