Dear Expectant Parent,

We’re David and Dennis, and we are excited to start the next chapter in our lives by expanding our family of three through adoption.

Adoption is common language in our family as both Dennis and our son Dylan are adopted.  David has always been open to adoption from the beginning.  We both grew up with siblings and would love the opportunity for Dylan to have that sibling relationship of his own.

All About Us

We met at a country bar and here we are 10 years later.  We love to travel and over the years we have explored places such as India, London and British Columbia to visit family.  You can find us doing some of our favorite activities like biking/fishing or doing something new like skiing.  Our children will learn about respect and dedication, which are two key pillars that we base our relationship on as well as our friendships.

Every day is filled with adventure

We are a fun-loving family of three that loves to enjoy many adventures.  We pursue most of our adventure with friends and family alongside.  We love to have “uncle weekends” with all our nieces and nephews where we watch movies and eat a lot of junk food.  Our interests include fishing, hunting, biking, traveling to historic places and doing a lot of kid’s activities.  Life is short, so it is important to have fun and spend time with people that we love and care about.

Hi! I’m David

I’m so excited to be a dad for the second time!  I love being a parent to Dylan and love sharing my love of nature with him.  We can often be found hiking in the woods near our home – even in the winter, there are all sorts of things to discover!  I also love hanging out with my seven nieces and nephews.  Family is really important to me!  Family and friends would say I’m a loyal person who goes out his way to help anyone.  For work I’m a merchandiser for Target, and I work in the Kids’ Home section.  I love using my merchandising skills at home too!

David grew up with an older brother and a younger sister.  David’s favorite memories include bringing the family’s classic cars to various competitive car shows.  Now that his brother and sister have children (six to be exact), the family focus has shifted from bonfires to the bounce house.  Both of his siblings live 30 minutes away and they see each other every 2 weeks.  David’s mom lives three miles from us and she is always over spending time with us and making memories.

Hi! I’m Dennis

Friends say I’m a kid at heart – and they’re right.  I love spending time with our son Dylan, sliding down slides, climbing through tunnels or snuggling in a big chair reading books.  Parenting isn’t always easy, but I try to find the joy in even the simple times.  I was adopted as an infant and was raised with my older brother, who was also adopted.  I’m so grateful to my birth parents for allowing me to live the life I’ve been able to live and the opportunities I’ve had.  I was always good at math in school, and today I use those skill in my work at a large bank as a Director of Risk Management.

Dennis grew up in a loving and caring family with an older brother who was also adopted.  Dennis’ brother lives in Vancouver Island and we visit twice a year.  Dennis’ parents live 6 hours away and come down every other month to spend time with their grandchild.  Dennis’ family memories include attending basketball games with his brother, going to his grandparent’s cabin with all the cousins, and family hunting trips.

Home Sweet Home

We have lived in Minneapolis for the last ten years and absolutely love it.  We love the parkway that is out our front door and take advantage of the walking/bike paths.  We enjoy dinner on our back patio while Dylan enjoys his swing set.  During the summer at night you can find us having bonfires on our patio in the front yard.

Meet Dylan

Dylan is cautious and shy; however, is not lacking any energy.  He loves reading books, playing catch, and playing matching games.  Dylan is looking forward to teaching his sibling how to read books, count and test his daddy and papa’s patience.

Commitment

We are committed to providing a supportive, loving and open environment to allow our children to grow into the best possible people they can be.  We can promise to give them every opportunity to reach for the stars.  Our children can be whatever they want to be in life.  We would hope whatever they choose, they do it because they want to.  Dylan’s adoption is an open adoption and our personal approach to openness is “We should never deny our child someone that loves them”.  We have a great relationship with Dylan’s birth mother.  Her and her family visit for birthdays/holidays and we exchange pictures throughout the year.

In Closing “Thank You”

Thank you for taking the time to read our adoption profile!  Hopefully we provided you with insight into our lives and our desire to expand our family… and made you smile a few times.  We cannot express how excited we are to start this journey with you in creating an adoption plan.  Love, Honesty, and respect are qualities that we value with each other, our family our friends and our children.

We cannot wait to hear from you!

Halloween is one of our favorite holidays, especially with our little stinker.

Out celebrating love.

Annual trip to Napa and Sonoma with a stop at the golden gate bridge.

Enjoying time at the lake with some swimming lessons.

We love cheering on the Vikings.

Dylan’s first Wild game.
