How It All Began:

Like many couples today, we first met through a dating app in November 2013. Dan likes to say that “he’s the one to blame” for our relationship since he asked for the first date. After a year of commuting to see each other, we decided to move in together in the Lowertown neighborhood of St. Paul. Soon after, we rescued a dog, Charlie. To give Charlie and our future child a safe and comfortable home with room to play, we bought a single-family home in St. Paul’s Como Park neighborhood, where we still live today.

Our first major vacation as a couple was an exciting trip to Hawaii. While visiting Hanauma Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Dan walked Tim to the far end of the beach and proposed. It was a beautiful memory we both cherish, and we’re excited to tie the knot in 2021 after Tim finishes graduate school.

Like most people, we have our quirks. We are both afraid of heights, but that won’t stop Dan from riding rollercoasters with our son or daughter. Tim isn’t a big fan of horror movies and Dan can’t stand spiders — so Tim saves the day whenever one wanders into the house!

About Tim (by Dan)

Tim is a kind, compassionate and empathetic individual gifted with a magnetic personality. He is a selfless person who always considers the needs and wants of others before his own. Tim is motivated and consistently seeks to better himself. He eats healthy, reads often, exercises regularly and is dedicated to his graduate school studies. Tim will make a wonderful role model and an intuitive parent. Also, as a nurse with advanced training in child and adolescent mental health, he will be an excellent resource and guide for an adopted child. As I am fond of saying, “I am not sure how I won the boyfriend lottery.”

Before meeting me, Tim went to school to become a nurse, earning his bachelor’s degree in nursing from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. He worked as an ICU nurse at Mayo Clinic before entering his current role as an emergency room nurse at Mercy Hospital’s Unity Campus in Fridley, Minnesota.

About Dan (by Tim)

Dan is a thoughtful, hilarious and articulate person with a clever wit that never disappoints. He learns quickly and can always be counted on to provide help, advice and support to those around him. Dan is strong-willed but kind and giving. He prides himself on being stoic in tough times and will provide an adoptive child with endless support, love and security. Dan will be a wonderful father that laughs often, is insightful, and helps your child understand how to be resilient with a strong, positive character.

Before meeting me, Dan earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He continued on to complete his master’s in Public Administration and started his career at Dakota County, Minnesota. Dan is currently the Finance Director and City Treasurer for Fridley.

Our Home and Neighborhood:

We currently live in a cozy, bungalow-style home in the Como Park neighborhood of St. Paul, which is close to a variety of family-friendly amenities. We’re walking distance to the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, North Dale Recreation Center and Como Park Elementary; and a short drive to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds and Rosedale Mall.

Our home sits on a street that’s quiet in terms of traffic but bustling with activities. We are blessed with a group of fun, kind and thoughtful neighbors who often host bonfires, house parties and pot lucks. Many of them either have young children or are about to begin their families, and we’re looking forward to raising a child in such a caring and supportive community.

Our Families and Friends:

We both enjoy active lives and lots of hobbies. Tim loves to bake and share his creations with friends and coworkers. There is no shortage of sweet treats in the house, and Tim hopes your child will be excited to get creative in the kitchen with him one day. Dan likes current events, video games and golf — a sport he hopes your child will come to love as much as he does (if that’s even possible!). Apart from our hobbies, we have several close friends that would come to be “aunts and uncles” to your child. We regularly go to events, movies and restaurants together, and they’re all so excited that we want to grow our family. On weekdays, we often take Charlie for an evening walk around Como Lake before coming home to eat dinner. On weekends, Dan makes it a point to continue his father’s tradition of cooking breakfast while Tim sleeps. We both imagine Dan waking the entire family up to the sounds and scents of bacon frying.

Dan grew up in a loving home in Oak Grove. He and his older brother, Paul, grew up on a lake and would regularly fish and swim. Dan’s dad, Curt, is a thoughtful and kind man that enjoys the outdoors and baseball. His mom, Renee, is a funny and generous person that loves spending time with family. Tim was born in North Carolina before his family relocated to Rochester. He has one younger sister, Heather. His mom, Shari, and dad, Bob, both adventurous, fun–loving people that enjoy music. They all can’t wait to spoil a grandchild.

Our Plans:

As parents, we will always try to keep certain promises to your child to ensure they live a full

and happy life. We want you to know your child will always be loved by us, be supported by our

friends and family and be the center of our world. We promise…

  1. To learn from our mistakes, keep laughter in our home and teach your child to be strong and resilient.
  2. To provide your child with a great education and instill in them the importance of learning and self-discovery.
  3. To teach your child about diversity, how to understand the issues around them and how to make the world a better place.
  4. To show your child the world, go on adventures with them and share life experiences whenever — and wherever — we can.
  5. To learn the rest as we go, have lots of fun together and always take on life as a family.

Our Gratitude:

We understand that your journey up to this point, especially as you think about placing your child for adoption, must be tough and full of difficult emotions. We are grateful for your courage to consider adoption and hope that we can continue this part of your story together.

We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering helping us expand our family. Please know that is you choose us, we promise to share your story with your child, commit to openness throughout their life, and raise them with love, laughter and education in a supportive home.
