TBRI Online Training

TBRI® Online Training

TBRI® is an attachment-based intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of children. TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI® is connection.

A foundation of TBRI® concepts is important for further understanding; therefore, the TBRI®: Introduction & Overview is a pre-requisite for any of the other courses (Empowering, Connecting and Correcting). Once the initial TBRI® Introduction & Overview class is completed, families may complete the other sessions in any order.

All TBRI® training classes take place online. CEUs are available upon request.

Learn More About TBRI®
Section 1: TBRI® Introduction & Overview*

In this class, we will:

  • Lay a foundation for insight.
  • Create a practical framework for intervention and application.
  • Enhance understanding regarding interpreting behavior.
  • Responding appropriately with the TBRI® Principles (Empowering, Connecting, and Correcting).
  • *This is a prerequisite and must be completed before taking any additional sessions.
Session 2: TBRI® Connecting Principles

In this session, we’ll take a closer look at the Connecting Principles of TBRI®. Participants will:

  • Gain knowledge and insight about secure attachment and insecure attachment
  • Gain awareness about our own attachment history
  • Learn ways to build a secure connection with children from hard places
  • Learn proactive strategies to empower children with behavior tools
Session 3: TBRI® Empowering Principles

In this session, we will go in-depth with the Empowering Principles of TBRI® to address physical needs. We will do this by:

  • Creating a framework for practical intervention.
  • Enhancing our understanding regarding:
    • Internal roots of children’s behavior
    • Sensory Processing Disorder
    • How to interpret and respond to children’s behavior with Physiological and Ecological Strategies
Session 4: TBRI® Correcting Principles

In this session, we will dive deeper into the TBRI® Correcting Principles. Participants will:

  • Lay the foundation for understanding:
    • The balance between structure and nurture (and the need for both)
    • Proactive Strategies (taught in times of calm and alertness) and Responsive Strategies (used in response to challenging behaviors)
    • TBRI® IDEAL Response
    • TBRI® Levels of Response

Please note if fees are a barrier, you are welcome to contact us and apply for an Adoption Support Fund grant.
