Learn Hindi-Urdu at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities
The Summer-Intensive Program for Hindi-Urdu (SIPHU) is a free, week-long program designed to give linguistic and cultural knowledge of India and Pakistan to senior high school students. This program is especially designed for adoptees of Indian origin.
The program focuses on the three modes of communication, as well as connection, culture, comparison, and community (the 5 Cs). They will differentiate the lessons to meet the needs of students with various backgrounds and language familiarity. During in-class instruction students will learn elementary level Hindi and Urdu. The week is also filled with cultural classes that will cover yoga, rangoli, dance and music. Instructors will come from the local Indian/Pakistani community. Additionally, the program includes a field trip through which students will be exposed to religious and cultural aspects of India and Pakistan.
The camp takes place June 19 – June 24, 2017 on the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus.
