Outgrowing Our Home in Nepal

November 13, 2014 by Staff Contributor

Children in brightly colored clothes at ISN smile for a group picture. In early September, we posted some projects that Inspiration Society of Nepal (ISN) is trying to fund, one of which is their hope to move to a larger facility.  Since Children’s Home made a commitment to help fund ISN’s operating expenses back in 2007, we’ve watched it evolve from a new home for little ones to a tightknit family of 17, ranging from toddlers to preteen.

ISN moved into its current facility several years ago, when the oldest child was around age 7. Now that boy is 12 years old, over 5 feet tall, and he’s only getting bigger. Together with ISN’s round-the-clock caregivers, these children share very limited space – just a few small bedrooms accommodate everyone.

Adoption (domestic or intercountry) remains an unlikely option for the children of ISN.

Receiving financial support from donors is especially important as Nepal’s current inactive status with intercountry adoption makes it all the more challenging for orphanages like ISN to survive and continue to provide quality long-term care. Because ISN receives no funding from Nepal’s government, it tries to limit expenses where possible.Bunk beds at ISN.

Unless major changes take place in Nepal, ISN will continue to rely on outside support to keep these kids safe, healthy, in school and growing up to a better future.  Consider becoming a monthly sponsor* to help us see ISN’s youngest child reach teenage years in the care of ISN and gain the skills to thrive into adulthood – or to join a family, if the door to adoption reopens.

Will you help us support ISN’s children until they’re in a family, or until they’re old enough to support themselves? – whichever comes first!Girls at ISN eat breakfast.

Join us as an ongoing monthly sponsor to cover ISN’s increased costs in operations as these children grow.  We need consistent monthly support to sustain ISN, which will also allow them to move to a larger facility.

Give $10, $25, $50 or $100/month to help us follow through on our commitment.  A monthly sponsorship* takes just a few minutes to set up online and you get to set the amount that works for you, regardless of where you live in the world.
