Hello! Thank you for taking time to read about us. If given the opportunity, we would be excited to meet you and learn more about you and your journey. We are Andra and Sam and we’re incredibly grateful to be at this stage in the adoption process. We’ve been together for 7 years and are excited to grow our family. I (Andra) was adopted from South Korea through Children’s Home over 30 years ago. My adoptive family is loving and wonderful, and my life was forever changed through this process. As a couple, it has always been a goal of ours to bring children into our lives through adoption.

For You

We understand this journey comes with many unknowns and the feelings you have may not match our feelings as prospective parents. We are kind, empathetic, and loving individuals who truly believe things happen for a reason. We promise to always respect you and your decisions and support whatever is best for you as expectant parent(s), along with whatever is best for your future child. We are wholeheartedly invested in forming meaningful relationships through this process and would be honored to get to know you better.

If you’d be interested in connecting or have any questions for us, please contact our adoption social worker:

Andra on Parenting

My greatest priority will be to create a home where our children feel safe, loved, and free to be themselves. I believe in nurturing their individuality and supporting their unique passions, whatever they may be. My commitment to them is unconditional—no matter what challenges we face, I will always be there to love, guide, and encourage them as they explore the world around them and grow into the people they are meant to be.

Sam on Parenting

I want the best for our child so that they can lead a happy and fulfilled life. Providing opportunities is something that will be very important and is something that I intend to be wide-ranging in ways that will help them develop as their own unique person. Growing in a kind, loving environment is an essential backdrop for them to develop from these experiences and to go through life with joy, presence, and support. I can’t wait for myself, Andra, and our family and friends to welcome our child into this world and to see who they become.

About Us

We met at work over 8 years ago and started our relationship as friends. We bonded over our love of coffee, food, animals, X-Files, and we were always looking for ways to be a part of each other’s days. After a year of friendship, we began dating and were married in 2021. We balance each other and work to bring out the best in one another, always striving to improve as individuals and make the world a more positive place.

We live in South Minneapolis with our 6-year-old chocolate lab, Josie, who keeps us on our toes and reminds us to appreciate the simple joys in life. We put a lot into making our house a home and have done several home improvement projects over the last 6 years.

We are lucky to have a strong support network of family and friends who significantly add to our lives and experiences. We are both accountants, are stable in our careers, and benefit from a large amount of flexibility in our jobs. We feel we are in a great place in our lives, relationship, and careers to add to our family. We’re excited to experience parenthood and love through our future child.

About Andra, From Sam

Andra is a special type of person that if I had to describe in one word, is “herself”. She puts herself and her world out there to those she cares about and is so welcoming that it’s hard not to do the same for her. It didn’t matter if we got together to watch X-Files or to cheer for (or, in Andra’s case, actively root against) my alma mater playing in the NCAA basketball tournament, when we first started spending time together, I learned more and more about her, and we quickly grew close because of it.

Years later, I can definitively say that this is still the case. It’s a joy to see someone with such rich, present connections with others. Andra brings a level of care and commitment to everything she does and the people she meets that is truly admirable. It’s not unusual for us to come home to a surprise baked good / coffee / other gift waiting for us on our back steps, left by one of her friends or family members, or by her coworkers or a neighbor. These small but heightened acts of appreciation are commonplace in our day-to-day lives, and are due to Andra being Andra, and people loving her for it.

The biggest beneficiary of Andra’s authenticity, and her openness, kindness, and lovingly selfless nature, is our family and I have no doubts that it will forever continue with our future child. I cannot wait to see how she impacts their life, and the bond that they build together.

About Sam, From Andra

Being with Sam feels like being “home”. Sam is empathetic, caring, honest, loyal, respectful, and he has a sense of humor that brings me joy every day.

Over our years together, I’ve seen Sam foster close friendships with kind and generous individuals. He is emotionally connected to his loved ones and puts thought into every interaction. One memory I have of Sam is watching him react to a homeless person we passed by. The person reminded him of his best friend’s brother who experienced homelessness, and it brought tears to his eyes. This moment made me realize the depth of Sam’s empathy for others.

One of my favorite things about Sam is his relationship with our dog, Josie. Sam wakes up every morning with Josie to feed her breakfast (she equates sunrise with breakfast). He does this on weekdays, weekends and even on his days off. Sam and Josie share a special connection that cannot be matched. I know the love and connection he shares with her will only be amplified with our future child.

Sam is always considering others and accepts people for who they are. I knew I would spend forever with Sam when the best part of my day was coming home to him. I am lucky to have found such a kind and loving partner, and I’m so looking forward to embarking on this journey of parenthood with Sam.

Sam has been best friends with Mark since the 7th grade

Josie loves being around kids, she’s very careful and curious

Our friends add a lot of joy to our lives

We never miss an opportunity to celebrate birthdays…Josie was turning 4

Sam’s favorite restaurant is Waffle House, his parents reluctantly tag along 😊
