Hi! We’re Michael and Zach

Even before we met, we both knew we wanted to be parents. Our partnership has made us stronger, and we know that together we will be the best dads we can be. We have taken time to prepare ourselves emotionally, physically, and mentally to be parents and are excited to be on this journey together.

Our Story

We are so thankful for the timing of our lives colliding in 2018. Both of us were very independent and settled in our own identities, with only our dogs to answer to. In March of 2020, our relationship grew even more vital during a pandemic shared across the world. It was such a comfort moving in together to weather the storm, pups in tow. During a period of uncertainty, we kept busy embracing the joys of a simpler life, spending time with each other’s families, and building a home life together.

We were married in November 2020, just before Michael deployed to the Middle East for a 4th and final time for the Minnesota Air National Guard. This proved to be another chance for us to strengthen our bonds from a distance, knowing our sacrifice as a couple would ultimately steer us toward our dream of raising children.

We live in South Minneapolis with our two dogs, Macallan and Fitz, and cat, Luci. Our home is a constant place of gathering with our families and friends, as we love to entertain. Living in the Minnehaha neighborhood in Minneapolis allows us to get outside, enjoy the parks and trails, engage in a vibrant, diverse community, and have close access to the airport for spontaneous adventures!

  • Zach has a bachelor’s and master’s degree and works in sales and consulting.
  • Michael, a retired 20-year veteran, has a bachelor’s degree and works in the aviation industry.
  • We enjoy traveling the world, and we have visited over 40 countries so far.
  • Together, we attend lots of concerts and enjoy trying new restaurants.
  • Our favorite special treat is going to bed early (enjoying this while it lasts).
  • We are active outdoors by riding our bikes, being on the lake, doing yard projects, the Minnesota State Fair, and spending lots of time with family and friends.

Zach will be the “project” Dad (written by Michael)

Of the two of us, Zach loves to stay busy and has acquired the title of our family’s activities director! There is never a dull moment around our house; when he isn’t starting a new project, he is undoubtedly thinking about the next one. Zach is seriously going to be the best dad. He is so kind, honest, and patient with my two nephews, ages 10 and 12. It warms my heart every time I see them together. He was built for this: he has two younger siblings, and his amazing parents continue to model a loving and respectful relationship. His desire to share his values and wisdom is precisely why I know he is the person I want to co-parent with. I am so excited to watch Zach teach our child all the fundamental building blocks of life that honestly don’t often get passed on to the next generation.

Michael will be the “organized” Dad (written by Zach)

Every family needs the person who keeps all the wheels on the bus moving forward and Michael is that person in our family. A lover of keeping everything organized, planned, and tidy, Michael will be the father who makes sure none of the tasks are missed, that all the necessities are packed and easily accessible, and that dreams can come true. There are people in this world who are excellent when it matters, and then there are those genuinely kind people who radiate joy. Michael is a truly kind soul who thinks of others before himself. Our child will be beyond lucky to have a dad who beams with pride and emits boundless love even when washing crayon marks off these white walls! Michael was made to be a dad: a gentle soul with a heart bursting with love.

Thank You

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about us. Whether you move forward with us or someone else, we wish you the very best! If you decide to pick us, we will give the child the best life possible surrounded by a large family full of loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who are family!
