“I’m looking for my ‘warm spot,’ a home and family where I am safe, valued and loved.” This is the simple hope of Sherakey, a 16 year old waiting in Minnesota foster care.
With a combination of goofiness and sarcasm, Sherakey loves to make people laugh and entertain. At recruitment events, she will throw out one-liners and then look around to see who is laughing. Those who know her best describe her as talkative and caring. Often when with trusted adults, she’ll talk about how she wants to belong to a family.
Sherakey thrives in moments when she can get one-on-one attention. Whether going out to eat—her favorite restaurant is Red Lobster—shopping at the Mall of America, or playing games, Sherakey loves to spend quality time with others. She also had a lot of fun at a matching event where everyone played board games—it was right up her alley.
Sherakey would do well in a family that likes to chill at home or experience a new restaurant. She enjoys movie nights and sharing simple moments together. She needs an adoptive family committed to supporting her into adulthood. Sherakey is open to moving, even possibly out of Minnesota.
