Meet JJ: A Loving Six-Year-Old with a Big Heart

February 28, 2024 by kristina berg

JJ is a goofy, kind, and loving six-year-old who enjoys reading, watching funny videos on his tablet, going to the park, dancing, and being around people who love him.

An ideal day for JJ would start out with a warm bowl of oatmeal (one of his favorite foods), followed by a trip to the park. In the afternoon, he would like to return home to play with his favorite toys and watch a movie with his family.

JJ would do best in a two-parent household located in the Twin Cities Metro. Ideally, his future caregivers would have experience caring for a child with high needs.

JJ faces many medical challenges including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and autism. At times, he uses a wheelchair or walker to get around and will need assistance with mobility. In addition, JJ uses several services, including occupational and physical therapy as part of his regular medical care. He will need a nurturing and supportive family who can dedicate plenty of one-on-one time to his needs, including regular medical appointments.

JJ is the most loving little boy and lights up any room he is in. He is super sweet and loves hugs! -Hayley Persons, Child Specific Recruiter

Following adoption, JJ will need help maintaining his connection to his tribal culture and staying in contact with extended family members, including his grandmother, aunts, and cousins.

“JJ would love to be a part of a family,” says Hayley. “He is the most loving little boy and lights up any room he is in. He is super sweet and loves hugs.” A loving, dedicated, and nurturing family will help JJ continue to learn, grow, and explore the world.

Details to Note

Due to contracts with the Minnesota Department of Human Services, the cost of adopting a child from Minnesota foster care is virtually free to families.
