Home Study Services

A mother is laughing and holding her son as they play together .

An adoption home study is required for all international, infant, and foster care adoptions. Typically this part of the process occurs after application and training/education and generally takes 3-4 months to complete.

Your adoption home study is an overview of your life, motivation, training, and openness to adoption. You can expect everyone in your household to participate in the home study process. During the home study phase, you determine the age range, number of children, and needs you are open to. The home study will meet the domestic or international regulations applicable to the program you are adopting through.

Often other components are included in home study services besides just the home study report. Families working with CH/LSS can expect to complete the application and background check process, training and to receive home study services and post-placement/post-adoption reporting services, as well as assistance with local finalization.

Depending on where you reside and the program you are adopting through, we may be able to provide you with home study services while you use another agency for the placement of a child.
