Hi!  We are Bjorn and Whitney Peterson from Minneapolis.

We appreciate you taking the time to learn about us.  We are so excited to grow our family through open adoption and we would be grateful for the opportunity to tell you more about our lives.

About Us

We have been together for almost two decades and married for thirteen years.  Having always known that we wanted to be parents, adoption has been a part of our plan from the beginning.  We have built a home on respect, communication, understanding, curiosity, and love that we can’t wait to share with our child.

We met in sixth grade in a very small town in North Dakota where we were both in the same class.  After dating through high school, we both moved down to the Twin Cities for college.  We were married in the spring of 2011 and now live in a house in South Minneapolis with our rescue dog Bonnibel.  After working as a Mental Health Practitioner for preschool aged kids with autism for a decade, Whitney now works at a food co-op and is very involved with her local labor union.  Bjorn spent some years working at a local guitar shop and playing music on the side.  He is now pursuing a career as an electrician and playing music just for fun.

Our Joys and Passions:

  • Cuddling on the couch (with Bonnie!)
  • Working on our home
  • Having long, in depth conversations about life
  • Visiting art museums
  • Digging in our garden
  • Environmental sustainability

Meet Whitney

Whitney loves to create, whether it be drawings, photographs, crocheting blankets, nurturing her collection of house plants, or even designing and making her own soap.  She is passionate, curious, and intensely caring.  Whitney loves her work at the co-op and finds a lot of meaning in the role she plays in her labor union.

Meet Bjorn

Bjorn spends much of his free time updating our 100-year-old fixer-upper, a true labor of love for him.  He is unfaltering in his kindness, compassion, and convictions.  Bjorn is a trained musician and songwriter and loves reading, listening to podcasts, and making Whitney’s eyes roll with dumb jokes.

Our Family

We are incredibly fortunate to have a strong network of very supportive and loving family members and friends.  Our clan sprawls from Georgia to California and includes very close friends we consider found family.

We are the proud Aunt and Uncle of six niblings from Bjorn’s sister and Whitney’s close friend.

Most of our family lives in North Dakota, however, where we often gather for holidays, birthdays, and other family events.  Although traveling with Whitney’s family has brought us all around the world including Hawaii and England.

Thank You

We Promise:

  • To provide a home full of learning, laughs, and unconditional love
  • To be honest, patient, and steadfastly supportive
  • To nurture our child’s mind, body, and heart
  • To be involved and attentive including providing full-time, in-home childcare
  •  To always put our child’s needs before our own

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn about us.  We hope this gives you an idea of who we are and the kind of parents we would be.  In general, we do our best to live simple, value-driven lives filled with comfort and compassion for our neighbors and future generations.  We would love the opportunity to get to know more about you.  Our dream is for an open adoption that provides for the best interests of everyone involved and the most love for the child.  Wishing you all the best.

Warmest regards,

Bjorn & Whitney
