Hello! I am honored that you are taking the time to get to know more about me and my family. I can only imagine what you must be feeling as you consider this difficult decision, please know I have the greatest respect and care for you and your path to this point.

My greatest desire has always been to have a family and I believe families come together in many different ways, including through adoption. It probably sounds odd to think of someone you have never met but I often think about you and your child, what you are doing or thinking, your fears and hopes. You have been in my heart from the very start of my journey to adopt and I want my relationship with you to be as comfortable as possible. So, whatever level of openness you desire, I am open to as well. I look forward to getting to know you and walk through this journey together.

I promise I will be open with your child about their story, I will love them unconditionally, I will care and nurture them with all I have, and with the support of my amazing family and friends (it takes a village and I’m lucky to have one!), and as they grow I will encourage them to find their own voice and pursue their own dreams.

Thank you so much for considering me. I am excited and ready to begin this adventure with you!

With Love and Gratitude,

Briana (she/her)

My Story

I was born here in Minneapolis, and even though I have moved around quite a bit, this is home.  I worked my way through college, earning my Bachelors degree at the University of Phoenix in Arizona, and my Masters degree at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

I am lucky to say I love my job, I work as a Senior Vice President, leading a risk management department at a bank. I don’t think anyone really grows up wanting to be a banker, but my work is interesting, and my career has allowed me to travel and meet hundreds of great people over the years, it has helped me develop confidence and stress management skills, and will allow me to provide for a child.

When not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I love baking, listening to music, watching movies, traveling and I’m a sports fan, especially baseball. I am active and healthy, I enjoy working out and hiking and trying new things, and am confident I could manage the physical, emotional and mental demands of raising a child.

I have always wanted a family but life and circumstance have not brought children to my life. My interest in adoption came about organically, even before I knew I couldn’t have children, I had a strong belief that families could come together in many different ways. There are several people in my life who have their own adoption stories, from a friend who made the brave and loving decision to create an adoption plan for her son many years ago, to cousins who were adopted, colleagues and friends who have created families through adoption, and a close friend who was adopted herself. These experiences help me to believe in the positive power of adoption, and will give a child personal connections with others in our life who have experienced adoption.

My Family

It would be difficult for me to overstate how excited my family and friends are for me to build my family through adoption! There are grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, aunties, helpers, play dates and volunteers to babysit on deck and ready to go.

I am the oldest of three children, with two younger brothers who are now married with families of their own. I have one niece and two nephews, collectively they are known as my “minions” and I adore all three of them. My parents are still married and recently retired, they are looking forward to doting on another grandchild. We’re a close family but by no means perfect. We all have struggles and we get on each others nerves, like all families, but we are unconditionally here for each other. We have loved and supported each other through difficult times, heartbreak and disappointment, loss and hurt, as well as celebrated good times with joy and gratitude.

We love gathering for holidays, birthdays, Twins games, and kids events, to name a few things. We tend to be loud when we’re all together, and we often have lively, open minded and thoughtful discussions about politics and faith and social justice, mixed in with a healthy dose of Simpsons humor, or even a critique of a recent Marvel movie. We are all excited to have our loving, loud, dedicated family grow through this journey!

My Home

I share my 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home in Golden Valley with my 8 year old cat named Beaker and my 1 year old dog named Nola. There is a bedroom directly across the hall from mine that would be a perfect nursery to start, and a bedroom as they grow. My street is unique in that it only has homes on one side, directly across from us is a nature preserve with miles of trails and woods to explore. I have a fenced in backyard with plenty of room to run and play, and there is a park with a play area, tennis courts and baseball fields, and an ice rink, a couple minutes walk away. The neighborhood I live in is fairly diverse and I am committed to proactively nurturing the culture and background of my child both inside my home and in my community.

My home is comfortable, warm and welcoming to all, I love to have family and friends come over to visit for a meal, or stay for a holiday weekend. I look forward to one day having a home full of all the joy, noise, messiness, Pixar movies, laughter, play dates, and homework that come with raising a child.
