Cory and Melissa

Matched

Home Location: Twin Cities Metro

Family Status: Couple with Children

Children in Home: One

Child Ethnicity: African American, Asian, Caucasian, East Indian, Hispanic/Latino, Native American

Hello! We are Cory and Melissa, and we are hoping to grow our family through adoption for the second time. Thank you for taking a moment to read our profile. We are excited and extremely grateful for the opportunity to be considered a fit for your child. We know this journey can be difficult for all involved, but the love that we have and want to share with a child provides us, and hopefully you, with security and confidence in our decision to grow our family.

Our daughter, Weslie, has brought so much joy into our lives that we can’t wait to embark on the journey of adoption again. In typical toddler fashion, if you were to ask Weslie if she wants to be a big sister, she’d say “no” (her favorite word). But when the time comes, we’re sure she will be the best big sister!

As excited as we are to provide you with this glimpse into our lives and who we are, we are equally eager to learn about you!

Our Story

In true millennial fashion, Cory and Melissa swiped right on each other. Despite being outside of each other’s typical “types”, the Bumble gods had other plans, and it was a match made in dating-app heaven! Despite having very similar personalities, we always provide one another with balance. When one of us is random and chaotic, the other naturally brings order and structure. We truly have found our partners and are each other’s biggest supporters.

Traditional means of starting a family have never been in the cards for us, but this has not deterred us from knowing that we are meant to be parents. Our daughter, Weslie Ann, was placed with us through open adoption with CHLSS in January 2024. Weslie has brought so much joy to our lives, and being her parents has truly been a dream come true. We have a beautiful relationship with Weslie’s birth parents and consider them members of our family. We cannot wait for the opportunity to provide endless love and support to another child.

About Melissa
Written by Cory

I have had the privilege of witnessing Melissa become the most supportive and caring mother to Weslie. Now, more than ever, when I think of my wife, selfless, caring, passionate, and strong immediately come to mind. As a true healthcare provider, she has the most natural way of making anyone feel seen and heard. These qualities, which Melissa naturally possesses, have led her to be the most present and genuine mother. I know her patience and unwavering support will provide Weslie and our next child with the perfect environment to be their truest selves.

Melissa is the youngest of two children with very supportive parents, whom we see several times a week. Melissa’s parents help provide childcare for Weslie during the work week, which has truly been the biggest blessing.

About Cory
Written by Melissa

Cory has become an incredible father to our daughter, Weslie. He’s not just the rock that supports everything in our family, but also the one who brings joy and laughter to everyone around him. He’s genuine, hardworking, charming, and goofy. He goes above and beyond to make his loved ones happy and shows his genuine support whenever he can. His hardworking and charismatic qualities help him overcome any challenges he faces, whether it’s a new home project or dealing with a difficult client at work. He’s the biggest Home Alone and Minnesota Gophers fan you will ever meet. Most importantly, he has so much love for our daughter, and I can’t wait to see that love grow for our next child.

Cory, the middle child of a blended family, equally split his time between his mom’s and dad’s homes while growing up. Cory’s whole family is so supportive of Weslie and our adoptive family. We have so many fun family traditions, including our annual Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin Party and Easter Egg painting.

Meet Weslie

Weslie Ann joined our family in January 2024, just 25 hours after her birth. She’s a delightful toddler with a big personality – outgoing, smart, silly, sweet, and full of energy. She’s the biggest Elmo fan and loves to explore, dance, read, and tumble in gymnastics. We’re confident that she will be an amazing big sister. Weslie’s birth parents are just as thrilled as we are for her new role of big sister.

Our Home

We have happily settled into a house that is nestled in a peaceful neighborhood in Bloomington. It’s just a few blocks away from a nature reserve, a park, and Melissa’s parents. This location offers us easy access to essential amenities and resources that are invaluable to our growing family, all without the hustle and bustle of a large city.

Since moving into our home in 2020, we have taken a lot of pride in making our house our home. From Melissa’s eye for decor to Cory’s growing skillset of housework and projects, we are continually working to make our home welcoming and comfortable for everyone who enters.

Meet Roxanne

Roxanne (Roxy) is our four-legged “child”. Melissa rescued Roxy when she was 6 months old, and she has been serving up her sweet and sassy personality ever since. Through a DNA test, we learned that Roxy is a mix of 13 different breeds (from large to small), but her most prominent characteristics are dramatic, energetic, a treat-and-lap enthusiast, and a nap-taker extraordinaire! Roxy welcomed Weslie into our home without hesitation and is especially grateful for the extra snacks she provides.

Our Promise

We cannot imagine the difficult decisions you are facing, but know these are selfless decisions made with the purest of love. Though we could never fully understand what you are going through, we promise to approach this experience with empathy and grace. You are putting your trust and faith into another to provide your child with a home, family, and life that will allow them to thrive.

Our promise to you is that we will not take this opportunity for granted. Simply having your attention at this moment to consider us is an opportunity we value and hold close to our hearts. Our promise to your child is that we will shower them with endless love, support, respect, and attention. We promise to love your child with all that we have and provide a nurturing environment that allows them to thrive and be the best they can be.
