LAURA HEUTON

My friends and family describe me as incredibly loving, consistently kind, thoughtful, independent, passionate, balanced, graceful, intelligent, adventurous, an excellent teacher, and someone who patiently perseveres and enjoys learning.

I am a single gal born and living in Rochester, MN. I love living in beautiful SE, Minnesota with most of my family living nearby! I teach elementary students and am a caretaker at heart.

My passion to adopt…

Quite simply, my life has plenty of room and love for molding and shaping another human, sharing with this little one my love of life and all it has to offer. I have considered adoption since high school and desired to be a mom since the age of six. I am excited about the prospect of an open adoption, and I look forward to working with you on a plan of what that could look like.

My job…

I love teaching! I am currently an elementary teacher in the Rochester Public Schools. I have had the opportunity to work with students who are struggling academically as well as to challenge students who are advanced academically. I truly love working with a wide variety of students and enjoy helping them think deeply and grow as people. I also have my English Learner license, and I am thankful for the experience of teaching university students in China for a year. Teaching allows me to work with all kinds of people from all over the world. I relish learning alongside my students as I watch light bulbs go off in their minds. It is a privilege to help foster the character and education of future generations.

My Support System

My church…

I have been a Christian since I was in elementary school and have always been a part of a church community. I currently attend Bear Creek Christian Church in Rochester, MN and am involved in helping in the nursery each month, attending a weekly Bible study, serving on the Missions Team, and volunteering at work projects in the Rochester community. My church family is definitely an important part of my support system. We rally around each other and support each other spiritually, practically, and emotionally. It is truly the hands and feet of Christ in action. If we see a need, we see what we can do to help. If we have a need, we feel free to ask for support. I love that my church is diverse. We are a church with people who speak English, Lahu, and Spanish. We are a church with many people who have created families through adoption and foster care. I know my child will be well loved and accepted in my church family.

My supportive extended family…

My parents

My parents are retired educators and are incredibly supportive of me! From my mom, I get my caring heart and helpfulness. From my dad, I get my curiosity and problem solving. I get my love of adventure and learning as well as my determination from both of them.

My brother & his family

My brother, Joel, and his family are extremely thoughtful, helpful, active, and generous in all sorts of ways. They are delightfully unique people!

My sister & her family

My sister, Kelly, and her family are loyal, hard-working, and helpful. We enjoy spending time together at the cabin in the summer as well as going on camping trips and celebrating birthdays and holidays.

My supportive friends…

We celebrate, adventure, travel, and get away together. We are consistently communicating and spending time together, celebrating birthdays, holidays, and successes. We support each other in hard times and jump at the chance to help each other out. My support system combines relationships from my childhood, through high school, college, and beyond. I couldn’t ask for a better support system.

My favorite things…

I absolutely love traveling! I have been to 49 states and 14 countries. I look forward to sharing traveling opportunities with Future Baby Heuton. My love of traveling is tied to my love of learning, adventure, and teaching. I am pretty much willing to try anything and travel anywhere! I thoroughly enjoy camping, gardening, animals, having fun, and cabin time with friends and family.

Dear Birth Parent(s),

Thank you for reading my profile. I promise to totally and completely love, accept, and respect my child while respecting and honoring you and your family. As you can see in the pictures, I enjoy my sweet village of family and friends, and they look forward to supporting and loving Future Baby Heuton. Thank you for considering me to parent an amazing human coming into this world. I truly wish you all the best.
