MEET OUR FAMILY:
We’re the Kobes! We’ve been married since 2022 and are eager to grow our family through adoption. We’re a Catholic family and love adventure and new experiences. We go all out on holiday festivities, especially for Christmas. God and family come first. We met through Match.com and connected based on our shared values of faith, family, and kindness, as well as our love of travel. We have a close-knit family and get together often. We can’t wait for our child to experience our favorite traditions like going to the cabin every summer with Mike’s side of the family, frequent BBQs and card-playing with Meagan’s side of the family, and many travels yet to come.

MEET MEAGAN (BY MIKE):
The first thing I noticed about Meagan was her infectious smile. I’m so blessed to have found such a dependable, trustworthy, and honest person. Meagan is deeply caring and considerate, attentive to everyone in the room, and always present in the moment. She also has a spunky side that’s fun to see when it comes out. She loves music, dance, reading, and spending time with family. She sometimes surprises herself with what she’s able to accomplish. I value her openness to trying new and intimidating things like camping in the Boundary Waters and a week-long backpacking trip in the Sierra Mountains.

I’m blown away by how well Meagan does with watching our nieces and nephews. They love their “Meggie”. Without a doubt, she is going to make a wonderful mom.

MEET MIKE (BY MEAGAN):
Mike is my favorite person in the world, and I am so thankful we found each other. I love how fun, creative, hard-working, level-headed, supportive, and loyal he is. He is a natural leader and cares about everyone’s well-being. He loves gardening, woodworking, and completing projects around the house. Mike has brought so much adventure into my life and is so encouraging in anything I want to accomplish.

I would have never summited Mount Whitney or ridden a camel if it wasn’t for Mike’s encouragement and support. I know he will be just as loving, encouraging, and supportive of our kids.

It melts my heart when our nieces and nephews ask for “Uncle Mike” and when he gives them wheelbarrow rides, shoulder rides, facilitates science experiments, plays baseball, and reads to them. They LOVE their “Uncle Mike” and he is most definitely a fun uncle. Mike will make an incredible dad, and I can’t wait to see him in that role.

WHY ADOPTION AND OUR PHILOSOPHY:
We’re pursuing adoption because we have experienced infertility and have both always believed we are meant to be parents. We look forward to providing our children with wonderful experiences and memories, just like we both had growing up. We also have close friends who have adopted, and we know what a blessing it has been for them. We hope for an open adoption; however, we will respect the choice that is best for you and your child. No matter what, you will always be important to our family! We are already praying for you. Thank you for considering us as you decide whether an adoption plan is right for you and your child.

OUR HOME:
We live in a nice home in the eastern suburbs of the Twin Cities. Our home has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. We’re in a newer development with other young families. We live close to our immediate family, our church, both of our workplaces, nice parks and playgrounds, and are in a great school district. We enjoy decorating our home for the seasons and holidays, especially for Fall and Christmas. Mike also enjoys gardening every Spring. We enjoy a cup of coffee on our porch swing and watching Wild hockey and Vikings football games on our deck.

Our Home

OUR TRADITIONS:

  • Apple Orchard visits in the Fall
  • Fall weekend road trip to a random Midwestern town
  • “A Christmas Carol” at the Guthrie every December
  • Watching “Christmas Vacation”, “It’s a Wonderful Life”, “Home Alone”, and Hallmark movies around Christmas time
  • Putting up Christmas lights at our house and at Meagan’s parents’ house
  • Gingerbread decorating with Mike’s side of the family
  • We spend each holiday with family; including Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and Independence Day
  • Cheering for opposing teams at the Minnesota High School Hockey tournament each March
  • Watching March Madness and joining bracket pools
  • International travel each summer – We’ve traveled to places connected to our heritage and our faith such as Slovenia, Slovakia, Germany, Lourdes, Fatima, and Rome. We look forward to planning a trip that would celebrate your child’s heritage with them!
  • Collecting ornaments from the unique places we’ve been to and for new experiences we’ve had throughout the year
  • Turtle racing at Mike’s family cabin every summer
  • Attending the Minnesota State Fair

MEET SCUTTLE (BY MOM & DAD):
Scuttle is our curious, sociable, seat-stealer. He’s a 10-year-old Havanese and is the definition of a lap dog. He’s also hypoallergenic! He loves to roll around on the carpet, go on walks, do tricks (or beg Dad) for treats, and take naps on the couch. He does very well with our young nieces and nephews. We sometimes wonder if he knows his real name since he’s called so many different nicknames like: Scoots, Prince Scutterton, Peanut, Honey, and Angel Muffin (Mom’s nickname).

Scuttle!

WHAT WE WANT YOU TO KNOW:

  • We will love and support your child unconditionally
  • Your child will also be loved and supported unconditionally by our larger extended families
  • We will raise them in the Catholic faith
  • We will celebrate their heritage and cultural traditions with them
  • We will support their relationship with you
  • We will guide them to live up to their potential and become confident, capable adults
  • We will encourage them to use their gifts and talents given to them by God
