Hello! We are Nikko and Alex! We currently live in Waconia, MN. We are very excited to grow our family through open adoption. We appreciate you taking the time to learn more about us.

About Us

We have been together for about 10 years and have been married for about 5 years. We met in 2014 through an online dating site while we were both still in school. Alex was attending St. Olaf College majoring in psychology, while Nikko was attending St. Thomas’ master’s program in counseling psychology. On our very first date, we did the classic “meet for coffee” date, but we ended up continuing to extend our time. The planned 1-hour date turned into a full day of laughter and joy that included mini-golf, dinner, and a movie.

As an occupation, we both work as social workers for a non-profit specializing in working with people with disabilities. We both share a passion for helping others. Throughout our relationship we have known we wanted to grow a family through the means of adoption. Having children has been a shared goal of ours since the beginning and we have built our life purposefully towards this goal. We strive to foster an environment of open communication, empathy, cultural awareness and advocacy, and a balanced life. We are excited to continue on the journey to adoption.

About Nikko (by Alex)

Nikko grew up in Eden Prairie, MN and I like to think I “converted” him to small town life now that we live in Waconia. It is a great mix of the sense of community that comes from a small town while having all the amenities and diversity of the metro just a short drive away. What drew me to Nikko, and I think to almost everyone who meets Nikko, right away is just how comfortable and accepted he makes you feel. Nikko is warm, caring, has a big smile, and always knows how to make others laugh. He truly goes through life wanting to make other’s lives better. Nikko is also a big cheerleader for others in his life. He knows how to make others feel appreciated with even the smallest things in life. While Nikko will admit to being an introvert, spending time with friends and family is definitely what fills his bucket! Nikko will be an amazing father because he genuinely loves others fiercely and wears it on his sleeve so you feel the love.

About Alex (by Nikko)

Alex is such a kind and caring individual. Alex grew up in the small town of Montevideo, MN where he remained until he attended college at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. I think what drew me to Alex was how eager and curious he was to learn about me and general topics as well. He loves to learn and goes out of his way to put what he learns to use. For example, he knew that one of my favorite meals is Hawaiian plate lunch food (think Chicken Katsu and Kalua pork with rice and mac salad). There was a time where he went out of his way to surprise me by making that as a meal just because he wanted to see me happy and at the time, was not a readily available food option here in Minnesota! Alex is just a passionate individual that loves to make others feel comfortable and happy! Alex is a loyal and committed individual that will always be there for you when you need him. He will make an excellent father because he always gives his all in everything. He is always 100% committed in everything he does, and you really do feel the love whenever you talk to him.

Our Home

We currently live in Waconia, MN. We moved into our house in September of 2020. We live in a neighborhood that has its own park and playground, which is only about a 1-minute walk from our house. We have 3 cats named Appa, Momo, and Courage, and they love to be loved up by people! We love living in Waconia because it has everything you need while also not being too far out from the Twin Cities. There is a sense of community that you can feel in a smaller town, but with being close to the Twin Cities metro, we get the best of both worlds!
