Hello there! While we can only begin to imagine all the questions you might have for us, we hope that this brief bio at least gives you a glimpse into our lives. We are so honored that you would consider including us in your journey and we hope to get the opportunity to talk to you soon about the future you imagine for your child!

Let’s Share a Little About Us

The story of us begins in 2012 when Tim and Ron met on an online-dating website. What started out as short messages soon turned into longer replies, which then turned into six hour “Skype dates.” A few months later, we met in-person for our first real date on Valentine’s Day. By the end of the night we both knew we had found someone special. Soon the weeks would turn into months, and then the months to years as we continued to fall more and more in love with each other.

We hope to share our love of traveling, the outdoors, and trying new things with our kids. We want them to be proud yet humble, defiant yet respectful, fiercely passionate yet kind. But most of all, we want to provide a loving home where they know they are always supported no matter where their journey takes them.

Fun Family Holiday Traditions

Fresh Cut Christmas Tree: Each year we go to a local tree farm to cut our own – Winnie likes to help!

Our House in Gingerbread: After moving into our home, we decided it would be fun to make a replica of our house each Christmas!

Thanksgiving Dinner: Every year Ron cooks Thanksgiving dinner from scratch, with all the fixings! Pumpkin pie is life, even if Tim disagrees.

Día de Muertos: To honor Tim’s Mexican heritage, we celebrate our loved ones with an ofrenda and their favorite foods.

Halloween Pumpkins & Costumes: We love sitting down for hours to carve super-ornate pumpkins for our trick-or-treaters to enjoy! When we get a chance to dress up, Ron often makes our costumes from scratch. He can’t wait to take requests from our future children!

Tim Talks About Ron

Ron is one-of-a-kind. He has the ability to console you one minute when you’re feeling down, and the next, cheer you up with a corny “dad” joke. He is a great cook who loves to try new things and loves building things from scratch in his workshop. Ron is also one of the most headstrong people I know; you tell him something can’t be done and he will make it his goal to prove you wrong. With these traits, and so many more, he has become a great husband and I have no doubt that he will be an amazing dad – one who teaches our kids how to be self-reliant, compassionate, and always curious.

Ron Talks About Tim

I knew Tim would be  a great dad when he first met my cousin’s children and was immediately interested in everything they had to say, encouraging them to share their interests. That genuine intrigue, in addition to his playfulness, has extended to his interactions with our dog Winnie  by him giving a voice and backstory to every one of her toys. He may appear shy at first, but he quickly warms up after getting to know you. He’s quick-witted and funny, always ready with a comeback. I like to describe him as “wickedly smart” — it’s fun to watch his mind work when presented with a new challenge!

Top 5 Things We Like To Do as a Couple

  • Traveling, especially internationally, and experiencing new cultures!
  • Camping and making s’mores (and memories!) around the campfire.
  • Long walks on nearby trails.
  • Entertaining friends and family for holidays or just a little get-together!
  • Trying new things – be it a new food or an experience neither of us have ever done – we love doing it together!

Work & Hobbies

Tim is a software engineer at a local software company. In his spare time he enjoys gardening, rock climbing, biking the local trails, playing video games, and learning about meteorology.

Ron is a web developer and aspiring YouTube woodworker. He loves cooking and baking, listening to podcasts, tinkering with home automation, and playing with his laser cutter.

Our Family & Friends

Tim is from Arkansas, where most of his family still resides. His siblings live there too and their kids make us proud to be their uncles! Because of the distance, we don’t make it down to visit as often as we’d like, but keep in touch with phone calls, social media updates, and video calls. Ron is from South Dakota where much of his family lives, including Ron’s adopted grandma, an older aunt-by-marriage who was a big grandmotherly figure in his life. Many of Ron’s cousins have children who are also like nieces and nephews to us.

Despite not living near most of our relatives, we have an amazing group of tight-knit friends who are excited as ever to be “aunts” and “uncles” to our future children! An older friend of ours is also excited to be a resident grandma figure in their lives – or to use her chosen term – their “gam-gam!”

We are both big believers in the idea of “chosen family,” and recognized long ago that family isn’t always linked by blood. Some of the closest people in our lives are friends we’ve been fortunate enough to meet along the way.

Our Home & Community

When we decided to become homeowners, we originally considered moving outside of Minneapolis. But, we soon realized we loved the city and our community too much to leave it all behind. So we settled on South Minneapolis, bought a house, and started transforming it into our forever home! Whether it’s playing with Winnie in the fenced-in backyard, picking strawberries from the garden, or watching a movie together in our cozy family room, we know we’ve found the perfect place to raise our family.

We’re located nearby many local parks and trails, including Minnehaha Falls, just a short walk away! While we’ve only lived in our home for a short time, the neighbors here have been so welcoming and friendly to us that we feel like we’ve known them for years! Many of them also have kids, meaning plenty of friendship opportunities on the block for our future children!

Thank You

Hopefully you now have an understanding of who we are as a couple and what kind of parents we hope to be! We can’t wait to welcome a son or daughter into our family, and we’d be honored if you chose us to be fathers to your child. Now that you’ve learned about us, please reach out so we can get to know you, as well!
